Anyone still have the link to the old post which states which chasis/engine number belong to which model like RRL, RRN, RRR...etc?

My fren is buying a bike, so need to check what model is that bike with its chasis and engine number.

Hehe...thanks brother.

Actually I found a very comprehensive website on cbr400, its actually through a link someone posted abt few hundred pages ago in this thread. But the link he gave was broken link. Because the page is shifted somewhere else within the same server. So after hacking into that server, I found the correct info which is on another page.

Top speed? I only know R model is 190km/h power cut. Mine R model power cut at 195km/h. Only tried twice to test the power cut. Other than that, seldom go faster than 180km/h.

Mostly cruise at 150-160km/h, occasionally 170km/h to chase after the bigger bikes along NS highway on trips up north.

L model dont have power cut, should be faster I think, maybe can hit 220km/h since from red line, still got 2k rpm left. But the meter only show up to 180km/h, so after that the meter should be quite inaccurate and cannot be trusted, best is to have a class 2 beside to pace.

Mine R model is 330km-360km then switch to reserve tank, with reserve tank can travel abt 56km more. FC is abt 18-20km/liter depending on how you ride. My another friend only clock abt 270-280km hit reserve already, he is a average person. I am a light on my trottle. Light on my foot as well achieving better FC than normal people driving same model as my car.

Hi guys, I'll be upgrading to a CBR 400 this coming May, so now I'm doing as much research as possible. Please correct me if I'm wrong anywhere here:

What I've found out so far, is that the models available here is L (1990-91), N (1992-93) & R (1994 on). L model is rumoured to be e favourite, being e only model without power cut, market price ranging $3-4K currently & hard to find nowadays. N & R models priced $4-5K onwards, powercut & quite readily available at most shops.

What I haven't found out is:

1) Though L has no powercut, R is no doubt e latest most improved version of the blades, so which is better to go for? Restrictions or technology?

2) Can N & R be properly de-restricted?

3) Important aspects to look out for in ensuring a good buy.

Thanks guys.

P.S. FOS> U've already upgraded to a 400cc?

Yah, mistake. Should be 13.5 liter pump in everytime I hit reserve.

So total 330km/13.5liter when I trottle more. If trottle less, cruise more, will normally be 360km. How much is the FC like that? I remember is 20+km/liter.

the rpm T 6th gear should be:

70km/h - 4k

90km/h - 5.5k

100km/h - 6.3k

110km/h - 7k

120km/h - 7.5k

130km/h - 8k

150km/h - 9k

160km/h - 10k

170km/h - 11k (needle shaky already so take average)

180km/h - 12k

190-195km/h - 13k

Mine also R model. hit 190km/h n the RPM still going up. think don't have power cut already.

Wa... 330-360km b4 reserve tank? tats a good one. i've got a fren who actually wanted to sell me his r model too which can hit 360km b4 reserve tank too. but unfortunately, got scraped cause of accident. :giddy:

L or R which is better? i'd say R personally. But not everybody think alike. Depends on individual.

Yes, N n R can be de-restricted.

important aspects ar? there are lots of them... check out the previous post.
