Hi guys,

I read somewhere in this forum that some CBR fit R6[carb] rectifiers to their bike, any1 here tried this b4? Any impact or improvement?

even R1 rectifier can oso fit in cbr..

the reason they change to other model rectifier is due to its longer life span compare to stock ones..

cos honda rectifier always spoilt easily..

What did you use to mount the remote reservoir? A custom-made bracket?

I know it is going to make the rear high in stock form. So I have to rebuild it with a different oil and different spring. Going to Bikelab to do it. At first I wanted to go with a totally new shock, but since I managed to get a used F3 shock, I might as well custom build it to fit me.

Just get a metal hose clamp that is large enough (preferrably stainless so that it doesn't rust. Failing that use cable ties.

You will probably find that the reservoir hose is to short to reach to a good mounting point so if you are getting it rebuilt anyway get a longer hose fitted.

Also rebuilding it with a different spring and fresh internals will not make it sit any lower. The increase in height is due to the fact that the shock is physically longer than the standard shock. A new spring to suit your weight and fresh internals will certainly make it feel better though. The extra height you gain from the length of the shock is a good thing as it makes the steering quicker and turn in easier, from the factory these things are REALLY low in the back.

You WILL want to extend your sidestand or the bike will likely fall off the side stand.

You should really consider getting front springs to match at the same time otherwise the bike will be unbalanced, if you get them done at the same time the handling should be excellent.

I have a completely rebuilt CBR600 shock on the back of my NC29 at home in Aus and another on the back of my NC23 here in Singapore.

Wow, that's awesome info. Thanks for sharing! :thumb:

I am going to verify if I understand you correctly.

1) Use stainless hose clamp. Where did you mount that clamp? Pillion footpeg mounting point?

2) Extend the hose. Did you use rubber or steel-braided?

3) Rebuild doesn't reduce shock length. Rear WILL go up. Understood!

4) Doing the front and the back together for best results. Intending to do it!

5) Sidestand should be extended to prevent bike from falling over. Understood.

Do you have pics of your NC29 or NC23? I would love to see closeups of the rear and the shock mounting.

I sometimes wonder if I am spending too much on my NC29. But heck, it is totally fun on the track because I don't worry about highsides (not enough power to spin that rear wheel), and repairs are relatively cheap compared to a superbike. I think I will keep this bike even when I get a superbike.

On my race bike I have them mounted to the subframe up under where the pillion seat would be. Ideally on a road bike you would tie it to the subframe in front of the exhaust hanger or onto the exhaust hanger bracket itself.

2) Extend the hose. Did you use rubber or steel-braided?

Since its a pressurised system I would recommend that you get a suspension place to do it. They will know what to use. Generally you would use a braided hose as its easier to get hold of in custom lengths but a rubber one would also be fine if you can get that.

I have quite a few pictures of my bikes in all sorts of pieces. I actually went back from riding 1000&600cc bikes to riding 400cc and I really enjoy them, I have a CBR400 Hurricane over here with...more than a few things done to it ;)

Send me a pm with your email address maybe we can meet up sometime, can send you some pics of my bikes too. I am heading over to the track for the first time on Saturday morning for the first session as long as its not raining. I used to do a lot of track days and even a race day in Australia but this will be my first time over to PG.

Use whichever you can get cheapest, there is no advantage or noticable difference either way.

as wat zero say..

change to the one which is cheapest..

normally i hear is change to a GSX-R400 rectifier or R1 rectifier..

but i think some mod is needed in order to fit in..

there is no power increase or any better response if u install it...

cheaper alternative is buy those small small cpu fan of 12v dc to mount on yr rectifier to cool the rectifier better..

u will notice some of the new model bikes hav their rectifier mount outside of the fairings to enhance the cooling effect..

I would leave the fork servicing / rebuilding to be done at the same time as the rear, since you need to tune the suspensions as a whole.

Rebuilding can cost even more than a new one, because it is totally custom-made. A good suspension builder will need to know your race weight (basically stand on the weighing scale with your leathers and everything). He may also ask you about your riding style. For example, do you carry corner speed at high lean angles (typical of underpowered bikes) or accelerate out of the apex at lower lean angles (typical of powerful literbikes). That's why it's called suspension tuning.

I bought my CBR600F3 rear shock on eBay. It might be quite hard to find one in Singapore, since it is rare enough in the US. The most reputable bike suspension builder I know of is Bikelab.

My rear is also really soft, although I already set the sag to spec. I definitely need to change the spring and the fluild. So, I might as well get the CBR600F3 version since it is more adjustable (compression and rebound damping).

By the way, although I have been searching, I haven't been able to find solid performance reviews of the various legal aftermarket exhaust systems available for the NC29. Can someone who knows it better than me share some info? Dyno charts will be awesome, but person reviews are appreciated too.

(I heard there is full system for NC29. How true? Haven't seen one installed yet.)

$5.4k for FN plate is expensive even if it comes with aftermarket exhaust, jetting and tuning. I bought my FN plate for $4.3k only.

if i'm not wrong, onli yoshimura and micron are the legal exhaust for NC29 in Singapore

Down here in Singapore, there is no market for aftermarket exhaust systems for 400s....only end cans....
