I did a little ride around Eastern TW in late 2008.

Nothing much to comment actually.

Rented a scooter in Hualien City, and rode around the sights of town and up into Taroko National Park.

Big thanks to YZFx who met me before he embarked on his "Cold Journey"... which is one of the most epic trips I've heard off (solo from Macau to Central Asia on a bike, then onwards to Europe on rail/plane/etc..). Thanks man, for your info on biking in TW, so I'm gonna pass it along as I told ya.

What you need to ride in TW:

1) A valid SG riding license

2) An International Driving Permit (Get this at AAS in River Valley Rd. Costs abt $22 annually)

3) Always remember that it's LHD there. You drive on the RIGHT side of the road.

Now, with all that boring crap aside, just some pics. I've got tons, but am not gonna post 'em all. :D

Edit: Oh yeah... not only Hualien and Taroko Nat Park. But went down to Taitung and ferried across to Lyudao Island too.

The whole area is basically mountain roads, tunnels, gorges, and stuff.

The scenery is many times better than what you'll get in Genting or Cameron highlands.

As I said. I got tons of pics, 12GB worth to be exact.

But so far I've only posted a few that I actually bothered to upload to Photobucket.

I also went further South to Taitung where i took a ferry to Lyudao Island and also rented a scooter there.

There are some nice things to see in Lyudao, but the best thing was the SNORKELLING. Pity I didn't have an underwater enclosure for my cam. So make do with a few pics of the place.

That is one of the tunnels in Taroko park. It's actually quite dim.

I asked my pillion to shoot in low ISO (i think that's what's it's called... I'm no expert) while I held the bike steady at very low speed.

More photos to come in the near future. I only got some of them up on Photobucket and that's what you've seen above.

Anyone know a photohosting site where I can easily mass load photos up and fast?

Photobucket is kinda slow and bloody troublesome to load up.

And I got like 12GB in total... of course I have to filter them...

Long and complicated processes are anathema to me. Eeerrrk....

I still have more photos of Hualien City itself, as well as Lyudao Island and Taroko.

Also have photos of the other parts of my trip. Keelung, Taipei, Kaoshiung, Kenting.

I was also caught in that massive typhoon during the Sep 08. I have pics of massive waves from my hotel in Keelung, as well as trees blown slanted in Taichung. LOL. Funny sh1t.

You may want to consider using Flickr? There is a 100 MB monthly photo upload limit for the free account though.

Well, ok. So I finally got off my lazy ass & uploaded a bit of pics.

I'm gonna trickle in the photos day by day, so bear with me. Gonna probably show the pics over a period of a few weeks.

I'll start off with the trip prior to the scootering trip on the East Coast. Just a few snippets of my journey from Day 1 thru 15. Scootering only began on Day 8 or 9.

Landed in Taoyuan Int'l Airport. Took a train trip from outside the city into town. Good chance to try the HSR (High Speed Rail) Headed to Taipei first for some food, then Keelung for the night stay. The typhoon was then building up in the Pacific, not yet hitting the island, but soon.

Arriving in Taipei, it was just a touch and go affair of some snacks and lunch around the Ximenting area as we prepped to head out to Keelung by late afternoon.

The original plan was to go clockwise around Taiwan, starting with Keelung, then Hualien, Taitung, Kenting, Kaoshiung, then up thru Taichung and back to Taipei. But the typhoon that came a day later forced us to reverse the direction. :D Oh well...

*Some shots will be blurry as I had only a point and shoot cam, and was bumping my way thru the crowds, so....
