Hey guys I bought a piece of voltmeter brand swoosh. Its also 7 colour and its super nice. I simply love it. But i have problem installing it.

There is 4 wires as stated in the piece of paper that come with it.

But I dunno what it means. It states:

Red wire : ACC

Black : GND

White : BACKGROUND LIGHT

Orange : BATTERY/ NOT ACC

I joined the ACC to my headlight switch input, and GND to my battery's -ve terminal and White to my headlight switch output. Now my voltmeter works but I wonder whats that orange wire for. I tried connecting it to the battery +ve but no reaction and no difference whether its connected or not.

Now my voltmeter will be off when my key is off. WHen i turn key to on, the needle will move to abt 12v. Then when i switch on light, the background LED will light up and produce the fantastic colours. Its nice but I noticed that my readings are very funny.

When i turn on the light without starting engine, the readings drop to 10v. Then once i start engine, the voltage go to 12v again. If i idle for some time, the reading will drop to 10v slowly. When I move off the voltage goes up again to 11v. And go up to 12v if i rev more. During idle if I rev, the reading will go up to max 13v.

Is it normal? Is my battery dying?

Sorry for my ignorance, i got voltmeter but dunno how to use and interpret the readings.

Also installed a Swoosh voltage gauge but mine is the EL light one..

Voltage when I switched off ignition: 12~12.5V

Voltage when idling: 13~14V

Voltage when idling(with headlights): 12V

Voltage when riding(with and without headlights): 13.5~14V

Hi all, I'm new here.

Wanna ask anyone out there who know roughly the cost of the "dash-board"(dunno i called it correctly) or put it in simplier way, the 2 front circular meters for CB400 version S?

Mine dropped off recently and I used masking tape to secure it for now.

Anyone can help me work out budget? Heard dat it only comes as original set and is very costly. Thanks....

Hi Marvypower,

Interested in getting one Volt meter... but having a problem in my mind.

Its that I'm riding Aprilia n was told that it have a weak battery, won't help even changed a new battery.

Will it matter? And how do you go about having silicon on it to prevent water from entering?

When will you be free? Accompany me go see see den maybe can go for sugar cane drink? :hungry:

hey bro,

voltmeter wunt take even one tenth of the power of wat ur headlight is taking...

have no worries on that..

Silicon is juz a super upgraded version of the UHU Glue..(remember?)

the ones tat are used to seal fish tanks...

so once u apply, it'll most prob stay till ur COE expires...

ok tell u wat... u can go to the shop at Alexandra Road there..

the car accessories shop Seng Motors...

go there and see all the various stuff there...

cos huh... I these days not much free time liao.. pai seh... cos gotta study..

or alternatively u can go to the other car accessories shop opposite Sim Lim Towers.. (more variety of meters)

same products but different pricing...

any prob, can contact me at 94242721 or sms at 96454579 anytime anyday...

Mine always fall below 12. Simetime can fall to 9 point something when headlight is on and engine not started. When on the move also max 11v with headlight on.

Check your rectifier and battery with a voltmeter.. Something is not right.. The voltage shouldnt be so low..

I getting my mech to check it out for me tomolo.

I dunno whether there is some wrong connection in my voltmeter. Its not reflecting the voltage of the battery. I installed it measuring the voltage of my headlight power source wire. It is 12v when bike not started only key is on. But drop to 0v when light turn on without engine start. When started, it will jump to 10v and go up to 11v if I crank the engine. If headlight is not on, and engine start, it will go to 12v when idling and 13v max if engine is crank.

Do you think is it bcos of wrong connection? I know I am not measuring the voltage of battery but the voltage of headlight source(which I assume is same as battery but doesnt seems so bcos sometime when voltmeter show 10v, i used my digital voltmeter to measur battery under the seat and it show 12v), but if I put the measuring wire at battery positive, it will measure 24 hours even if bike is off.

Most slightly battery too old liao.

Possible but might be the rectifier too..

Without headlight on, idling should be around 13+V, riding 14V.

With headlight on, idling around 12+V, riding around 13+V.

the voltmeter is juz there to measure ur batt so it wont consume much power..tell u wat..connect ur voltmeter to ur batt..the 2 wires for the lights, connect it to ur ignition..in that way,ur lights will onli come on when ur bike is turn on..mine i connect both wires together and den to my ignition..both will come on once i on my bike..
