hrmz...seems like now it's more of where to find a position on the bike to fix the meter instead of where to buy the meter...

was pondering whether i should install a voltmeter on my TA200...

those who have it on their bikes...do you find it really useful? or is it just for asthetic pusposes?

the voltmeter has a purpose other than cosmetic wise.

it shows u the battery voltage and whether it is charging correctly

when u start ur bike...the voltmeter ideal reading is 12V..when ur bike is on the move ur batt is suppose to be charging so it should be showing within 13V to 14V range

it shows whether ur batt life is coming to an end a not

By having voltmeter on my bike,

how do i detect that my alternator is kaputt?

Thanks!

on normal circumstances, one of the signs will be the voltmeter will register the same voltage regardless if the bike is running or not.

The clearest sign will be the bike can start (electrical starting) after a few days.....heee

Charging ur batt(with a proper charger) on a regular basis will eliminate the need for a voltmeter and it will also prolong the life of your rectifrier !

a voltmeter will be useful if you have a lot of electrical stuff installed on your bike

might not be a bad idea to get 1 installed though...

rather than go try and start your bike 1 day & find out that the battery is flat...

That's why i rec u to charge ur batt regularly.

Cuz regular city riding and the length of riding is not enough for the rectifrier to fully charge the battery.

This cuz extra strain on the rectifrier.

So regularly charging ur battery to full capacity keeps it healthy and good working order and also prevents ur rectifrier from wearing out earlier.

Check out this link from long ago !

Battery !

It would be better to install an ammeter in this case. As you would not know whether the amp for the motorcycle is enough. Voltmeter only shows whether the bike is charging or not charging.
