Such cyclist are really putting their life in danger and might cause others getting into accident too.

Planning bigger, faster training routes for more guests who I've never met before requires looking ahead in terms of the usual safety issues so the convoy does not get disrupted by the usual dangers on the road. Or get lost halfway.

 

Some solutions

Make the convoy highly visible

Riders you know (core force) must be in gear and advantage if some have reflective decals and/or LED running lights added (more highly visible).

Teach everyone to navigate the entire route (no, it's not impossible, with the right coaching technique)

Lastly, pick the correct lane for any route, don't hold convoy in unmanageable traffic (local traffic can control by picking lesser used routes) and don't attract unnecessary action by doing stunts. Responsibility works both ways when dealing with safety issues.

 

With that I realised the authorities' increased attention to motorcycles is not all that bad. Cars on Friday night kept out of the convoy's way and all waited for us to move past before forming up behind. Met a few police patrols at Tuas but they didn't really bother about us anyway save for some 'ride safe ah!' friendly comments.

This is awesome. Gone are the scenarios in my dad's heyday where dishonest drivers bribe witnesses to win cases against motorcyclists because said motorcyclist was knocked down by an irresponsible driver and became unconscious.

 

Nothing against drivers in particular, but bribing of witnesses has happened and probably still will happen. Video cameras for 'insurance purposes' give clear undisputable evidence of the scene before the impact. Even more fun if you manage to capture the plate number and actions of a reckless individual.

 

Technical challenge of course is getting a camera that can survive long duration 480p and above recording without needing manual intervention or battery replacement (Most Lithium Polymer compact cameras last barely two months of long duration recording, while Li-On fares much better).

 

@Fried Rice - car is very easy leh, android smartphone with decent camera with a windshield mount + GPS assisted data logging = win.

Lol then you got to decide a compromise between resolution and ease of use liao. Those $120 ones from Sim Lim can do the job but more likely you will want a camera that has a 12V charging option.

 

Ebay Hong Kong had some great cameras that had features no other camera had. They're not as powerful in framerate and resolution than a GoPro but they have a lot of nifty features meant for 'insurance' recording purposes. You also need something easy to manage so SD card is a plus. Try not to go for those miniature cameras with lithium polymer batteries, you need something more heavy duty otherwise you'll be buying cameras every few months. However I don't have the link to the HK cameras, they're on my home PC.

I got it from oversea but not from vpost so there is no issue about the battery.

Today, Just got myself Go Pro HD Hero2 ( Outdoor) plus the following Assessories:Lcd BacPac

On my bike, i had fabricated a metal platform (device) for twin purpose of Cam and GPS. I have a short tripod removable/mountable on the device. I had fixed 2 sockets(12V) inside my glove box with Usb auto plugs in readiness.

 

So I did not buy the Handlebar Seatpost Mount.

Now I am planning to charge the battery on the go by creating something.

 

I look forward to the extremely useful WiFi BacPac + Remote coming soon - hoooooray !!!!!

 

Btw I fully recommend the Retailer at Excelcior Shopping Centre. His service is par excellent - he goes all the way to help me alot to figure out and assemble the various parts that come with the Camera and Assessories. Price wise it's reasonable - not very much more than buying online ( to factor in insurance, freight and Gst).

 

In future I can post some vids and pics with this Hero2.
