Today, Just got myself Go Pro HD Hero2 ( Outdoor) plus the following Assessories:Lcd BacPac

Tripod Adaptor (Camera Mount)

Suction Cup

The following will be available 2 weeks time:

Battery BacPac

Anti Fog Inserts

On my bike, i had fabricated a metal platform (device) for twin purpose of Cam and GPS. I have a short tripod removable/mountable on the device. I had fixed 2 sockets(12V) inside my glove box with Usb auto plugs in readiness.

So I did not buy the Handlebar Seatpost.

Now I am planning to charge the battery on the go by creating something.

I look forward to the extremely useful WiFi Remotecoming soon - hoooooray !!!!!

Btw I fully recommend the Retailer at Excelcior Shopping Centre. His service is par excellent - he goes all the way to help me alot to figure out and assemble the various parts that come with the Camera and Assessories. Price wise it's reasonable - not very much more than buying online ( with ins, freight and Gst).

In future I can post some vids and pics with this Hero2.

Sure, alvinyansg, np

Shop' name : www.sgcamerastore.com. The website is also of the same name.

Location: 5 Colman St, #02-18 Excelsior Shopping Centre Entrance by Hill Street, next to Funan.

Contact: Melvin

Tel: 6336 2273

Hero2: $499

LCD BacPac: $134

Tripod Mount: $14

Suction Mount: $54

This morning, I Took pics wif iPhone3S and my Hero2 to compare or see whether the 11 mp will produce pics outstandingly. Yes, Hero2 performed far better - so much details of the water, jetty, grass and trees!

I tried available light ( dark recesses in my car) - again it captures well without much graininess !

Pics while driving were sharp.

Below's my old shot of my 2devices-in-1 Mount.

Hope my answers help you all.

any close up shots of the mount?

sorry can't see it properly how the camera will be mounted...

anyway if the connections for the bacpacs are the same with HD Hero, when the lcd bacpac is attached the battery bacpac cannot be used right?

you planning to record while charging?

you got the skeleton housing?

cause from the shop website the motorsport package comes only with the skeleton backdoor and not the housing...

U do that then die ar. Its more cheaper to buy a car camera then bike camera. Then everyone will start shooting. Then sending in. Dunno then suddenly get letter in the mail box. Like that i assure u, most will get ur money transfered to gov.

I cant imagine myself signal every time i change lane or pass by a car/bike. In a heavy traffic here going toward tuas. Industrial area.

Every body does bad sins every now n then. Take a chill pill

@alvinyansg : first question TP will ask you is "will u be willing to testify to the evidence in court?". Unless you are, no further action.

Back to to the topic of the thread, i would like to know if anyone here has tried the "Flip MinoHD"? I like it for it's size and price.

Cos I am not paying the crazy price for the GoPro cam. I have borrowed and tried the HeroHD and it didn't really impress. The casing starting fogging up after about 30mins gradually getting worse and despite mounting it under the windscreen, audio was err 'funny'.

I am considering the Samsung W200 or the Samsung U20 as well.

Anyone tried the above few models?

go for it! i've been having my fair share of inconsiderate drivers on the road as well, so much so that im looking at getting a mounted camera to record their misdeeds.

http://www.spf.gov.sg/abtspf/tp/inconsiderate_driving.htm

http://driving-in-singapore.spf.gov.sg/services/driving_in_singapore/contact_reporting.htm

Reporting of Traffic Violation

To report traffic violations, the following necessary ingredients must accompany the violation reports, namely:

1.

The full registration number of the vehicle of which the driver/rider is alleged to have committed a traffic violation

While the make and colour of the vehicle, if provided, may be advantageous to the investigation process, only the FULL registration number is required.

2.

The date, time and location of the alleged offence

Location of the alleged offence should be relatively precise (e .g Pan-Island Expressway in the direction of Tuas before the exit into Adam Road, Central Expressway in the direction of Ayer Rajah Expressway at the 5KM mark, etc).

3.

The nature of the alleged offence

This refers to the circumstances leading to, during, and after the alleged offence (e.g . the lane which the drivers/riders were traveling on, traffic condition, manner of driving/riding, etc).

4.

Confirmation of willingness to testify in court should the offender dispute the alleged offence

This refers to the feedback provider’s willingness to testify in court should the offender dispute the offences alleged against him.

5.

Full particulars of the feedback provider

This refers to the full name (as in NRIC or passport), NRIC or passport number (work permit or employment pass numbers may be accepted), address (residential or mailing but “PO Box” addresses should not be accepted), contact number (residential/office number accepted but mobile number preferred) and email address (should the feedback provider have one).

6.

Photo/video evidence or particulars of independent witness(es)

Photo and/or video evidence submitted in relation to the incident must be sufficiently clear so as to identify the nature of the alleged offence as well as parties involved. The same requirements apply to photo and/or video evidence submitted by both the feedback provider as well as the alleged offender. Photo and/or video evidence must not be acquired while the evidence provider is driving unless the device used to acquire such evidence is affixed to the vehicle. Particulars of independent witnesses refer to the name and contact information (e .g telephone number, email address, etc) of any independent witness(es).

We regret to inform that TP will be unable to proceed further in the absence of any of the above detailed information. You may send in the details to [email protected]

the above models are all vertical standing models...

wind noise, mounting positions, water proofing, able to take vibration are some things needto take note...

i have a GE DV1 shockproof,waterproof,dustproof...

mounted on my handlebar...

for a few weeks it was working great...

then it starts to turn off on its own...

turns out that the vibration has caused the the internal battery to loose contact...

for the fogging issue of the gopro casing...

i think all camera that uses waterproof housing will face the same problem...

you can put the anti fog inserts from gopro, small dissatant bags or use anti fogging spray on the housing...

Other waterproof vidcams:

I have no experience but from the adverts I was not impressed or enthusiastic with the quality of the pics and vids. I need very sharp ones for me to edit. None comes with so much assessories as GoPro.

Vibrations:

I started making my mounts from parts of Car Suction Cup Mount. They all fall apart and I could see "violent" shakes, haha. Then I experimented with solid metal plates and so far, it seems sturdy. So far I affixed with velcro - the hp and GPs did not fall off. As for the self made base and camera mount, I had used my Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD 1A on it - BUT only a few times as it's NOT waterproof. I dun see vibration.

Fogging:

I must thank u for highlighting this point - Anti Fog Inserts must be in the waterproof housing ALWAYS.

Charging on the go:

The Skeletal Housing can be used for charging BUT WHAT IF IT RAINS WHILE YOU ON THE BIKE and you cannot stop safely?

So I am thinking of using the waterproof housing with modifications in mind.

Battery BacPac:

I think it used as a case for 2nd battery and for charging the battery. No universal cahrger can charge this battery if standalone. OR

it can double battery time if used with the cam. AND if you dun need the LCD BacPac after fixed positioning the cam.

My Camera Mount:

Some more pics to follow later.

the GE DV1 cam has image stabilization and the videos all turn out to be good...

but in actual fact its vibrating like crazy...

the gopro skeleton housing will also solve the fogging problem...

for me i will leave the waterproof housing in my box and use the skeleton housing for normal day riding...

if i suspect it to be going to rain,i will swap out for the waterproof housing...

a bit troublesome but with this set up i can charge while recording and riding...

won't modifying the casing run the chance of water seeping through?

Those using Gopro, do you use normal SDHC or the "high-speed ones"? Any difference to video quality? I am using a high speed 16GB Sandisk SDHC..

currently using 32GB Class 10 SDHC card...

from what i read online best is use class 4 and above cards...

The modification I am thinking off will definitely shield the cam from the rain. The modified one can then be used charging even during rain and not to be immersed in water or scuba. You need to wait ....

The waterproof housing (untampered or modified) is 100% 60m waterproof.

HC denotes high capacity and the acronym is used for all SD above 4 Gb. There's no difference in video quality. The difference is the classes - thereare 6 ,10... the transfer speed is 45 mb per sec for class 10. Class4 is about 15 mps. for Burst mode 0.5sec, u will need class 10.

some videos on prevent fogging without the need of the anti fog inserts

more work to be done...

maybe coat once every week...

even the inserts after 4-5 use have to dry them to use again...

for hd videos i think the higher speed the less time for the cam to write the data into the card...
