Disc and drum brake is a lot of difference......Go for disc brake whenever possible.

As for the bike spec....got no comment. Would rather go by bike reputation and review from fellow riders first hand...spec on paper very subjective and misleading

This is a Yamaha India bike. Will it make it to our local shores?

Because i've seen the FZ150 here already. This FZ16, am not so sure if it'll make it here.

is it possible to change the rear drum brake to disc ? does it cost a bomb ? i have read some comment from india.. most of them say they enjoy the ride, milage is good, around 33km/l ... but the pillion seat is rather small

There's already an FZ150 in SG. Have you considered this?

The existing FZ150 appears to have a twin spar aluminium (perimeter) frame.... while the FZ16 has a steel tube single or double cradle frame. (looks single to me)

The twin spar frame is better because it's more rigid.

I've seen the FZ150 at a carpark. Looks too skinny for my liking.

The new FZ16 looks so much better.

But seriously, I would ignore bikes with drum brakes. Are we still in the 70s?

The new FZ16 really looks good.. but why did they use drum brakes.. its a new bike man... budget ? cut cost ? I like this bike alot, but the drum bike is disapointing.. anyone have any idea to improve it in anyway ?

Change the rear rim to one with a disc brake, and that fits with the chain/sprocket alignment. Then change the entire rear brake system... pump, etc....

Question is... do you really wanna go to all that trouble? Moreover, most of the time, we use our front brakes.

haha..after seeing wad u said abt the trouble, i think i will just stick wif it.. as long the brakes are working, it should be no problem.. btw, compare this bike wif RWR.. wad do u think ?

hi there kinara .. i am an owner of the FZ16 in nepal currently .. recently just bought it and yes the bike feels good.. yeah the drum brake is a disappointment but it works well.. just that u dont have the super brake effect of disc brakes.. they placed drum brakes on the back to cut cost. but then u could just insert a disc brake system at the back no problem, just need the money(since the bike has gone thru cost effective measures, u could use that market discount to ur advantage and buy ur own pefered disc brakes) who said u gotta insert them urself.. any bike shop can insert that for u for a price though.. i cant say anything about mileage but it gives me about 35-40km per litre(ridden it only about 50km till now... bought on last sunday ma).. oh also one thing to note.. the fuel tank u see on the bike is not really a fuel tank.. its actually a plastic/hard fibre type external casing for the bike.. its good in a way that when u run into an accident and kinda scrap ur fuel tank, u simply replace only the side that has been scraped beyond repairable mark. and since it's plastic/hard fibre it is cheaper than normal metal fuel tanks(actual fuel tank on FZ16 and FZs is inside) ... and finally drum brakes arent that bad, it just doesnt look that cool as disc brake.. but works everytime.. unless u r real kiasu about having disc brakes.. :p
