Italian electrics usually funky ... gotta check (and replace if necessary) relays and fuses, carry spares. Also make sure grounding is excellent. Glad your bike is running now. Suggest you smear some Vaseline on the terminals too to prevent corrosion.

Cheers

Cat

I previously own the Duc and the terminals are smeared with silicon electrical grease. Top plug wire replaced last spark plug change and tuning. I suggested checking the starting relays on the right hand side of the bike, infront of the battery.

R version being Desmodici? Or Tricolore? I know theres is a Desmodici RR coming to Singapore already, dude bought it for 125K. 250bhp. sick.

Tri Color is also a S version only, but with the limited paint scheme and Termis exhaust.

Desmo is V4, road legal version of MotoGP bike....1098R (1198cc) should be nothing close to it, lol....it's like R1 (Desmo) vs R6 (1098 R).

Saw a disturbing scene few weeks back at JK Prata....a black 999S, owner wearing burms, slippers and an open face.....

Feel very bad about myself that other ppl could stand the heat of his Duc while I could not, and every attempts to ride with burms are painfully unsuccessful. I could only wear burms, slippers and open face riding Wave.

Yes as i was mentioning, the Trico s not the R, its just a 1098S Trico. The 1098R is like u said, nothing similar to the Desmo. Desmo is one pureeeeee breeeeed race machine:cheeky:

Ducati have just recalled some 1098's for possible faults.

Whats the reason for recall?

It was being said theres lots of complain n one of the reason why they are waiting the R version coz ..... these problem were solved in the R version.

1098s was actually a flop.

overheating is never a problem as these bikes were rode in much higher temp than singapore.

Its more than meet the eyes

Last rumour I heard was a brand new in crate one selling at 30k....rumour, like I said, not confirm info. I heard it couple of months ago when a young kid was trying to buy my 748.

This is common for many things design not for tropical areas.....I heard the same about continental cars, aviation stuffs too. No worries about that, those overseas designers are learning. Will see what my future Duc will experience when I get one here in CA.

*maybe I'll be blessed with superhuman power to ride the 748 with burms....*

I'm not so sure about the flop issue....me for sure will not be able to tell much if I mount the 1098 for I have riders riding "flop" bikes doing better than me on my 748 frequently on track. Likewise, once a blue moon I get the joy of overtaking a "proven" bike too.

I hope WSBK thinks like us and allow this "flop" bike to campaigne next yr, under Troy Bayliss's hands.

Sorrie for the late catching up bro. I thought you are

leaving on the 10th! Haizzz, wanted to treat ya to a

simple dinner! How is the weather over there?

Thought of selling my rear Marchessini 5-spoke to try

the BST carbon. But it cost about 3.8k+ juz for the rear.

Was advice against this option as Mr F mention that there

won't be muz diff as the weight is bout the same, what do

ya think?

Do corresponds via gmail should u need any assistance.

Anyways the first batch of bikes is quite std to have some faults here and there. HOpefully the 2008 one will be settled where the bugs are fixed haha. But i still love it, today saw it again at workshop, its one gorgeous beauty.

Hee, save your $$$, treat my whole family when we come back visit, lol...

Well, the man has spoken, think his advise sounds true also....you will not get much difference BUT carbon BST sure looks way bling....It's a matter of "want to" for me.

I would still prefer forged Alu as these takes street tougher.

I saw a Yellow 748 along a street in SF and it's racking up my memories of riding one already, damn!!! I thought of getting a Fazer or Hornet to commute first. Could not get the XR6 or Transalp 650 as planned cuz not easily available here in my area. Hmm....

Need a job first.

hillary bro, so sorry not to have meet up with you before you left. so many good memories bro.. and best wishes for you, get a job, and a nice 748 again.

too bad my bike is still skinless but all others have been fixed up.

btw i am looking at buying some items either from states or europe, anyone interested. my brake pads are almost at their end of life and minerva is selling like 300+++. for the fronts. if anyone interested we can save cost together.

saw there some of you are having electrical problem. recently i find that my bike is harder to start up and also sometimes it dies off. the rev meter also behaves wierdly. then one day the bike cannot be started. have to change batt. but same thing happens again.

finally look for eugene, say its the rectifier fault. changed that and all is working again.

so do check again and the good and bad things about dukes, their electrical at times cause us headaches but so far built quality is damn good and engine has always been realiable as long as good care is given to the beast.

Battery then Rectifier, quite common as I also had walked that path on my 748 before, and including in the package are 2 different times of push starting (battery spoil push start, next weekend rectifier spoil also push start), the finale being pushing the bike from Kallang Bahru Swimming Complex to Minerva workshop.

But at least we need not change magnetic coil like some CBR1000RR which an unlucky owner changed 5 times. I feel problem or not, it's whether the owner wanna think it is a problem or not. So far my ownership, I felt that my 748 gave me not so much headache compared to some other's Jap bikes. And DOC, you know I dun go easy on my bike, cuz like you and some bros here (RedRocket, Ming, flowers to name a few), we track our Duc instead of keeping it pretty and shiny and did we join the Duc Owner's Club? Guess not, lol

Ya, lots of memories, Sepang just to name a few. Good times, you learn the track fast! Said your bike is naked? Then you only need race fairings. Glad to know the rest had been fixed up too.

Yup, have a meetup, and DOC, look out for my ride...it's with someone here in this Duc thread, ha.

Ya, gonna get a job soon....asap in fact for I'm thinking Duc, Triumph or MV Agusta....748, 695 or 750? Hmmmm.....and the resale value of Jap 600s so cheap!!!!
