To answer your questions, I think my requirements are fairly simple.

1) The bike must be in working order. i.e. Fuss free travelling from point A to point B.

2) The bike must be able to move but no need to be too fast cos I think my top speed will be under 80km/h since I''m not much of a speed demon.

3) The bike doesn't need to look super chio. Just as long as it is not a rusting metal rack then I can slowly cheng it if I want to. icon-smile.gif

4) The bike must be relatively easy to maintain and upkeep cos I'm not a good mechanic. I'm willing to learn but really doubt if I'll be a fast learner.

It does not matter if the bike is vintage or classic since I'm not exactly a vehicle freak

Cep: Smoking is never good for you. tar no tar, you will never know cos the tabacco company can claim everything in the world. One day, they will tell you that there are additives in ciggies that will provide you with nutritients and no need to eat liao.

There are no tips in the world to get someone to quit smoking if they themselves don wanna do it.

If someone really wanna quit, you can give him/her a lighted ciggie and they won't smoke. If not, they will come up with excuses after excuses and deadlines after deadline.

either a classic or a vintage vespa, can readily meet your expectations...

i might be wrong, but putting myself in a housewife's shoes (weird but rather kinky)..i think you will go for convenience

narrowing down to the specifics,i think you should opt for a disc brake PX( around $2.5K-$4.5 for a 200cc ,2001 onwards model)

1)12volt CDI-brighter lights/louder horns/electric start/brighter signals -brake lights

2)convenient separate 2T oil pump( else not, you have to premix with petrol.and u must remember the mixture ratio)

3)disk brake: highly effective braking

4) petrol indicator..-very important.

easier to self-maintain.parts abundant.makes more sense if youre on a budget.

i dont know...as for stylistics... the world is your oyster...

It's easy to laugh...It's easy to hate.

Though it takes strenght to be gentle and kind.

Agreed with Modstar except for a couple of things....

PX98 also has disc brake and was sold in Singapore... 98 meaning year 1998 onwards.. PX Millenium is the newest model that has 1 or 2 differences from the newer one...

I bought my FT plate (2001? or 2000... not sure) 2 years ago for 1.8k...

My second scoot an FR PX98(currently in bits in my spare room) cost 1.2k

I think 2.5k is the absolute max I'd pay... and I'd expect a whole lot of sweeteners to make me swallow it.

Fluffpuff/ Tazzy: Prob not going down to the shop.

Mod/ Sharpey: Thanks for the analysis. I will try to keep them in mind.

So glad that there are lots of folks out here who are so mindful of my needs. :cheer:

Mod: So based on your analysis, would you think that your fren's bike would suit me?

usually u can tell wen the bike was made by the plates.. well it depends, some old plates does'nt necessarily come from that particular bike.

im not really tat experience myself, tats jus wat i think though. hehe

So you guys are able to guess when a bike is made based on the plates?

hi wildswans...actually it takes a little more then that.

some of the guys are so well versed with each and every model.

till they are able to tell, which year it as built, country it was made from...etc etc.

talk about passion and dedication, right? haha

I was just curious why a number of pple selling bikes have to indicate their plates in the description.

i guess thats part and parcel of buying and selling of vehicles wildswans.

by emphasizing on the alphabets...that would more or less indicate which year the bikes was first

purchased.

i am sure your husband can advise you from his experience, be it for cars or motorcycles.

the guys can correct me on that
