Dear Policemen and Lawyers,

I have a scenario to pose to you. Hope that you can let me know what would the outcome be. I wanna see if the judicial system in sillypore is as what you would expect.

A friend's friend of mine gave an agent SGD$20,000 to help her to arrange to get Permanent Residence in Sillypore as she just wants to stay her and buy a house ASAP. The agent claimed to be able to do that.

The agent took her money, and never fulfilled the promise. She reported the case to the police for fraud.

What can my friend's friend do? Or what will happen to that arse to cheated the money away?

(please be more considerate and not leave unnecessary comments ya?)

Anyway on that note: How does one get PR in sg?? I don't think there is an "quick and easy" pay and get the blue card method.

Either you marry a singaporean spouse or you have to be staying here damn long time already... That's all i know.

there is a hidden way to get PR, even those SP also easy to get.

got a receipt but was kinda vague.

If the hidden way to get PR is going through the loophole of Singapore Customs, I doubt this case will stand in court for fraud..... There's no such thing as quick and esy way to get PR... The Singapore govt is pretty strict on immigration issues......

do not officially display the receipt to the public. I would suggest bring it to a legal advisory firm to investigate the liability between both agreeing party and proposing party.

If they think you have a chance, then chances are, you have a chance. Else the receipt might as well be just a piece of plain paper.

You might wanna consider gathering more information and details. What's the proposing party's company. Who introduced him to you. How he got to you. Were there others that were affected too. (Majority rules. If you are alone, you have definitely a much much lower chances of bringing forth your case).

I might not be helpful. But at least I'm trying my best to give any idea which i can think of right now.

Apologies in advance if above are bullsh*ts. for your fraudary case.

buying a house? as from what i know, any foreigner can buy a house in singapore, provided that it's a private property which is above 7 stories. there ain't any other restrictions though.

Hidden, as in under table? I hope it doesn't mean illegal, otherwise both sides have just committed a wrong.

If this is true, then maybe that "agent" knew that and skipped with the money, hoping that your friend wouldn't dare to report it as the transaction was illegal in the first place.

It's sort of like shoplifting from a pirated games stall. I was a bad teen in Sec school... and I did this. LOL. See if the illegal games shop dared to report me to police if they caught me. I knew they couldn't.... maybe beat me up, yes... but no avenue thru legal channels, yeah.

talking about pirated stalls, i loved browsing and buying pirated games at my local pirate stall when i was serving in NS police. One day i accidentally drop my police cards and warrant card on the counter when i was paying. The man stare at me and his cigarette drop out of his mouth. I gan jiong, faster sweep the cards into my pocket and told him dun worry, not a raid today. Paiseh sia, faster take the games i bought and run. By the end of the week, the shop had vacated and im still not sure if i had caused my favourite store to close down. =(

Sorry for the Off thread story.

Wah piang. You don't be a black sheep in the police force ah. I still can't imagine how you can 'accidentally' drop your warrant card while paying. Anyways, moving this thread to Legalities Section...
