oh man... but why must u wait for the FJR?

hi man!! how's the trip ?

Well I'd hope the FJR will give more comfort riding compare to the Fazer. I finished work at 5pm, and fell a little chilly at about 7pm n took medication and then head off to GP to meet up with our guyz. we head off to hatyai from GP at 12mn. Nearly fell asleep during the ride around gunung semanggol. reached gurun at abt 10am, applied for thai insurance n permit. reached hatyai at 1.30pm half dead.

So, i'll relax a bit now, do more back packing tours n wait 2-3 years time until i plan for the next long way trip. until then, KL would be a nice place to ride for a short lepakking.

tiba - tiba December pegi Koh Samui Plak - mampus !!

I've smelt something fishy...very fishy fishy.

Looks like someone is changing his log card soon...:deal:

hah ! $28K brader, wa takde duit dar. nak beli seluar dalam alpinestars pun tak mampu, apatah FJR.... kena tunggu 3 tahun.

trip was ok.. a little tiring due to the super long ride.. 16hrs of riding inclusive of rest stops.. but the rest is good..

dun mind me, but i think u made a few mistakes prior to your Hatyai riding..

1st - u took medication.. never take any form medication before u go for a long ride.. furthermore it was a night ride... more reasons for you to fall asleep.

2nd - if u feel u are not well, pls do not ride long distance.. i know it's going to be tough but it's ok to miss the ride and do it another time.. i'm sure there will be lots of opportunity. Most people think they can ride and i have to admit they can.. but they do not enjoy the ride due to their body conditions..

3rd - work before ride.. at least take a half day off before the ride..plenty of REST.. that's the most important thing before a long ride.. it is very stressful esp when u'r riding long distance and u'r battling the urge to sleep. Plenty of rest really helps esp when preparing for a long ride.

u'r lucky during your ride u and ur group did not face any difficulties like tyre puncture or breakdown.. if u do so, it'll be much longer for u to reach hatyai and u definitely wont enjoy any ride with that kind of condition u'r in.

anyway, even with a FJR or STX, with the mistakes u made before ur hatyai trip, u will also not enjoy or even be comfortable in ur ride.. I would say it'll get worst and u'll fall asleep even faster due to no windblast from the bike when ur riding.

i'm sorry if i piss u off with my comments.. I am not a seasoned long distance rider myself but i am just sharing wat i think is wrong and what i have learnt from people that i have ridden with.

cheers

SGD 128 one way flight to BKK

SGD 500 expenses (hotels/domestic flight/transport/ food/beers-haha! lots of em.

SGD 160 return flight from Phuket - Sg

totalled about SGD788 ( 6 days 5 nites ) Not bad eh ! we actually targetted 600, but the return flight was a bit Ex. but all was good.

Reaching Krabi with your precious bike - Priceless :thumb:

Oh no! - after the Hatyai trip, I don't think I'll ever want to travel with Fazer that far. I'll have to wait until the FJR comes in. Then, I might head all the way to the golden triangle.

Btw, how much did you spent on fuel for your hornet?

wow...golden triangle...but again, why wait for FJR? :?

:btw: petrol spent for my hornet is equivalent to Fazer....maybe slight diff of 2-3 litres, depending on the how i ride. as a sweeper, u tend to chase the front pack and that makes u open ur throttle more :thumb:

Well I'd hope the FJR will give more comfort riding compare to the Fazer. man that's a good one.

why FJR - more comfort riding, the hard luggage don't come into the way, it connects to the ergonomics of the bike. I Got fantastic feedback about this bike cruising at enormous speed with no turbulence man. This BIKE is seriously made to HURT THE ROADS. The Fz1 is a great bike - but i guess it's still isn't enough. something is still missing. maybe a screw two. or maybe a screw two in my head ya.

That's pretty expensive.

back n forth would cost you about $250 by air asia or jetstar if u book 1 month in advance.

there are plenty of hotels/lodges that cost pretty cheap 500 baht onwards (about SGD23 per nite)

This is where u gotta save in order to spend more on other important stuff especially activities.

$400 dollars is more than enuff to buy stuff + food + other expenses.

Do drop by Kho san rd. Sukhumvit rd. Phratunam valley.

cool place to look around.

if ur going on ur own, get a bus from the airport terminal to these places. it'll cost u 150 baht per person. oh ya, don't forget to get the bangkok town map from the airport- they are everywhere n free!

biler?? biler?? hahahaha..

tell da truth... I rode 16hrs(each way) on the exact same bike as guru. No doubt it was tiring but I was still goofing off when we got there.

Even went for a bike wash and breakfast before goin home.

Of course on a FJR or STX it could be more comfortable (except when cornering?? no offence...) but the mental and physical state of the rider plays a huge part as well. If you're not in the right mind and body I think even a goldwing might not be enough...

of course i'm not a seasoned rider so this is just my POV:sweat:

The story of the ZZR "The accessory windscreen fitted to our ZZR was disappointing, as its taller design induces a lot of noisy turbulence. The item is perfectly quiet when the rider is in a full tuck, but then that's not really the sport-touring mode, is it?"

The STX1300 was called "the first choice of tired riders. The ST is also the heaviest, has the least amount of maximum power, and it doesn't work as well as a do-it-all motorcycle."

comments on the FJR1300 "And so Yamaha's FJR1300 emerges as the best big sport-tourer from Japan. It was judged the best looking, has more than enough S-T power, enjoys the best throttle response, and it doesn't look ridiculous without its excellent standard hard bags."

Kawasaki Concours 14

"Tom gave the Concours 14 a thumbs up, but suspects the new design will have a hard time supplanting its Super Sport-Touring rivals the Yamaha FJR1300 and BMW K1200GT in an upcoming comparo test."
