i will tilt my head down...and slow down..

if u have $$ buy helmet with shades in it.

Get that "helicopter style" helmet with flip down second tinted shield for $60 lol.

There's also another issue with my overly shiny bike - can reflect off the chrome and cause excessive glare. Just look past the glare and you're fine.

Some Caucasian Phantom riders in Thailand spray their speedo consoles to the same colour as their fuel tanks to minimise this.

Ya, have that problem with my chrome parts too bro, but I'm loving it! Not the glare though! Hahaha...

Anyway, a question for hamster or any part time mechs:

After a session riding through rainstorm and a lot of start-stop riding my engine is producing tick tick tick sound when idle. I've heard this is caused by a loose chain tensioner (hopefully not predetonation!!).

I hope it's as simple as that? There seems to be no performance loss, infact, my top speed has increased significantly from getting rid of excess oil (for some reason shops like to insist on 1.5 litres!) Sounds more like B-17 bomber too, which is good! :p

Hi guys, i was riding today at 80+kph when my engine suddenly died. had some trouble starting it again. but after 2 mins it was up and running. when i got back to my mscp, i noticed some ticking sounds from my left foot area. i pushed the bike with the engine off and the ticking sound is still there. the frequency of the ticking sound is correlated to the speed of the bike.

i must have looked like an idiot running laps arnd the mscp. *pants*

anyone have any idea what might be the cause of the problem?

A few of us are headed to Planet Motor this Saturday - my cam chain also needs inspection. Might want to tag along :) (See washing guild thread :3 )

its juz ur exhaust contracting and expanding due to the wet rain on contact with the exhaust yes no???tick tick tick sound is very vague best is to hear from the bike itself....

The sudden death is known as the wet spark plug symptom, phantom always has this when come to heavy rain or enuff water to cause current leakage to bypass the spark plug hence no spark no combustion....the only way is to put grease into the spark plug cap, as this will retard water buildup causing current leakage...

Anyway ur sound is actually coming from your chain from what i read here, nothing to worry, unless to say even when ur not moving bike engine running got the sound then that is most likely timing chain, other than that best is to bring down and let a mech diagnose the problem...

timing chain need replace i think

that is if he engaged into any gear and push the bike w/o clutching in, anyway that can only be heard when the bike is started after parking for more than 8hrs, as the EO has flowed to the lower engine casing hence not enuff lubrication left on the chain, but let the engine idle for 1-2mins and the noise will disappear, if it doesn't that means that the timing chain is loose, cam chain tensioner has lost its tensioning properties...

Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see farther.

Thanks Hamster and jtzx, i just did a check today... my eo seems to have ran out! well i topped it up den let the bike warmed up and did a few laps arnd the mscp, the ticking sound still persist. so i guess really is the chain problem. =(

I don't mind having that as a secondary horn. I'd keep the stock horn for normal road use. Mount the superloud one in a hidden location with special trigger :)

Idea.

I want to buy one of those ice-cream man squeeze-operated horns.

Seriously. Where to get one :3

I think I've seen it on one of a PK's bike - Yassman is it? He installed 1 on the left side, so funny! pa-pu pa-pu!

eo filled to required level???

anyway the timing chain might be gone due to low EO as that is actually to lubricate and protect the chain also, hence ur chain might have worn as a result...

Hamster - the ticking is audible just about anytime the engine is running. It is most audible standing near the cylinder, or from the exhaust muzzle. Of course, all the roaring drowns most of it out. Timing chain/tensioner is probably the issue, I hope.

It does seem strange that the sound appeared when I reduced EO level to recommended 1L with dipstick level checks, and not before when it was 1.5 litres as put in by shop.

As the power response and smoothness appeared to improve instantly after reducing EO level, I'm not going back to 1.5 lol.

And I definitely want that Karang Guni horn. Where to buy lol
