My dreams is probably getting a RX-K and restoring it to original chrome-lined glamour...

Those pek pek bikes can go really fast if poked at!

Hmmm... you'll look even taller riding that bike right?

hi all, i was riding last night when i bike stalled when i was stopping behind a car. it can't be started again after that. i suspect it's spark plug problem. battery just changed less than 1 year ago and the headlight was still there, shouldn't be battery problem.

any idea what kind of spark plug does phantom200 use and where is it located. if spark plug fail, is it still able to do a push start?

quick reply please, thanks.

i believe it has nthg t do with your sparkplug..

Gear problems? Unlike other Phantom riders I ride at full throttle almost all the time when not in convoy ops. Nothing's happened since I got this bike, which is 8 years old to boot. The gearbox obviously feels 8 years old but considering this crankcase has been used for Honda engines from 50 to 250cc, it's a pretty robust piece of engineering.

How you can destroy the gears is perhaps try to ride at highway speeds at 5th gear (we have a 6 speed gearbox) for a couple of years. The over-revving will kill the gear. Otherwise a good engine oil, frequently changed, and frequent changing of gears should keep the wear pretty even - it's a good practise in any bike imho. For this reason I use semi synthetic oil for superior shear resistance and high temperature stability. (changing every 2000km or so due to my wide open throttle riding style)

The Phantom is a very hassle-free bike and can survive harsh running for many years with minimal maintenence. Just don't try to handle her like a sportsbike and you'll be fine :)

Only the brave and knowledgeable get a Phantom for performance tuning so thumbs up from me (I'm in the same interest). As for handling issues from light weight.... it's probably due to weight distribution rather than being light overall? Maybe the tyres. Metzelers in my case are good for dry grip and straight line speed in the rain, but follow road contours TOO well and grip is inconsistent with bank angle (safety feature).

I didn't have stability problems when my bike used to be 70kg (as opposed to maybe 180 now).

On the Yamaha I sat way back on the seat on the highways to eliminate tail-end wobble. Scoot forward entering corners to max out front grip, hit the apex, load back the rear, apply power and countersteer till the pegs scrape.

I don't actually like to scrape pegs immediately, but attack progressively as there have been some scary encounters with road debris.

i dun rlly get my bike to perform..

its more for visual pleasure..

i just want it t look nice & sound as nice as possible. (2b bike cant sound how great zzz)

performance is a bonus to me.

removing parts over parts lightening th overall is actually for th look..

i dont need this - remove it

this is ugly - remove it

this is in th way - remove it

without all these = looks btr

without all these = lighter

being lighter is secondary to me..

looking nice is primary..

& well, looks like we'r going OT..

sry guys.. *out*

im helping a friend.

how to check for the condition of a phantom? like what important parts to check when buying a second hand one?

thanks ;)

one good way would b to get e seller to meet at a bike shop... let e mechanic test ride n give his verdict... :)

for my steed, thats what i did... i told e seller i would buy it if he willing to meet me at planet motors to let ah chong test ride and give me the green light... he said ok, n we let up, ah chong rode n said all good! so immediately go down to lta to transfer... :)

b4 my steed i wanted to get a different bike. e person put e price $4.2k, he told me his highest offer is $3.8k, if i go higher it will b mie... i told e person i offer u $4k but wanna meet up at bike shop to have a quick check, immediately e person was like erm so mafan, forget it... so i also say forget it lor, cause to me e person's bike sure got problem... willing to travel down to lta just to do transfer but not willing to meet me at a nearby bike shop for awhile to do simple checking... haha!
