park nicely in MCP yet summoned by LTA

Hi guys, I dunno if LTA is damn hard up for money... Here's the case:

 

I got Season parking ticket and i parked nicely within the lot in the MCP. It is a white lot somemore.

I parked my bike at night ard 12am, checked everything swee swee then go home. Next day, afternoon ard 3pm I went to collect my bike.

I saw this LTA Notice of Offence on my bike.

 

Description : Improper front and rear number plate(fonts not according to size) photographs taken.

 

Issued at 0950hrs.

 

I mean wtf la.... on the road TP see also never stop me, if stop me still ok.. but go MCP and take photo and issue notice of offence?? I think they damn hard up.

 

Dunno how much the summon will be but anyone can advise on this?

Well u dont pay the summon first. drag the thing. send a appeal to lta. if u really wanna be strict in the email by all means. i sure understand how u felt when u saw the summon. haha. anyway how small is ur number plate fonts?

TS, your bike does not have to be moving for an offence to take place. And even if you have not been stopped before, doesn't mean that you can get away with it forever.

 

Think of the repercussions of having a small number plate. If you were on the other end of this, how would you feel? For example, if your bike was hit by another vehicle with a small number plate or you were involved in a collision with a vehicle with a small number plate which fled the scene, that would have made it difficult for you to catch the registration number.

 

Anyway, the summons is either $70 or $100. Compoundable.

Ditto. Doesn't mean you're not caught, it is ok to carry on. LTA, as well as TP, are allowed to inspect and summon for illegal modifications.

 

And I strongly don't recommend to drag the case cos I really cannot think of how anyone can come up with a concrete reason for having a small license plate aside from aesthetic purposes. Don't let a compoundable offence become a court case.

TP has the power to summon with regards to number plates but they don't bother so much. Its because they are more to ensure road safety first. So speeding and reckless driving/riding are their main priority. Thus the name TRAFFIC (coz got to do with traffic) Police.

 

On the other hand, LTA/ROVs are enforced with the power to ensure not illegal modifiications made on the bike. They have the right to summon you in this case. Just pay, change number plates (to legal size, font and dimensions) and forget about it. No use persuing the case. Ya I think the summon is $70 or $100 as what Black Bandit says.

 

I'm sure you know that there is a page on vehicle modifications on LTA website rite?

I just couldn't believe when a bike park at car park also can kenna summun like that.

If TS caught while riding on the road, have to swallow it. But park already still catch leh.

They should have go sumbun those idiot drivers anyhow park their cars instead of such illegal number plate things. Truely un-professional... If I kenna like that, hard to swallow.

 

I was caught on the road with small plate 5 times during 1 year rides. But I am willing to pay the fine of SGD$70.00 each time. Till today, I replace with original big big plate and they don't even bother me at all :-)

Horny fella This is just a case of very unluckiness but like what the others have said and linked to the regulations small number plate is an offence and the moment u decided to use tht small font subconsciously u should have been prepared that damn suay one day will tio( touch wood)

 

Best of luck with your appeal though. Can say maybe temporary one while u having say maybe a sticker one made? I dunno wat other reason u could possibly give.

This is truely how I feel, they should spend the time going out to stop those idiots who change lane aruptly and cause accident or

those suckers who change lane then turn signal and dun check first, causing the person coming from behind to jam brake..

 

But coming into the MCP to summon such a small thing?

 

 

The number plates came along with the bike when I bought it.. If I were to hit someone, I would not flee.. same thing I would not want someone to flee

if I was hit. The reason for the small number plate is cause the zero gravity windsreen on my ride is too small, no where else can i paste the numbers.. very ugly. btw my ride is R1...

believe it or not, i ever saw ROV(is the one with the lta plate) inside my mcp. their purpose of doing the round up in mcp is to "spot check" on those laid up vehicles, to make sure those vehicle are as where it is.

i guess ur unlucky that he saw ur big bike with the small plate.

TP enforces the rules set by the LTA and the law. So do you think that they have the authority to summon u? Even the civilian LTA officers have the authority to catch u loh.

that's really suay. reminds me when i got fine as well. park the bike at sim lim tower parking lot, go in less then 5 mins. go out already got the ticket. when i rode, i saw a lot of bikes park not at the parking lot, but none of them got ticket

I almost kenna the same thing as you. I was riding towards the parking lot at my hse car park, a parking attendance suddenly shine his touch light and look at my number plate and key into his hand-held device.

 

Why so kiasu sia? Luckily I am riding in the car park that I had purchased season parking... I can't imagine if I stop the bike and the next moment a ticket is issued to me.

normally if pulled over, there is a small hope that he would let u off with a warning to change the plates...

but this way, no chance at all...haiz!

but still, since the plates were not LTA approved, then there is not much u can do also...just take it in ur stride, pay the fine and move on...no point losing sleep over these blood sucking leeches!

TS, since you know it's an offense, then you should prepare for a ticket anytime. Go change your number plate and whatever needs to fix. How the officers go about carrying out their duty, no matter what is said here, we can't influence the way they do their work.

 

Whatever happens happened. Take it as a lesson learn in life.

Put bike cover also not use if they really wanna catch. The garang ones will still open your cover. Some of the bikes and cars parked under my HDB carpark, the covers are being open up to see the plate.

 

Best is to use legal plate and settle all the worries.

and yes, this is a very rare and unfortunate occurance... maybe tp go your area llim kopi then just as he park his bike he saw your illegal number plate...
