well, he's the boss, he can do watever or say watever..

we chinese r more money oriented.. or we think of $$ when we apply a job.. we think of $$ when making business.. we think of $$ when servicing.. so it's our nature.. dun say we cheap skate.. lol.. ( of course many still willing to pay more for beter customer service)

for my company, we are not allowed to offence our customer.. anyone caught doing tat, we may be terminated..

Disclaimer : Its a bit lengthy, do read only if you have the time.

Here's my side of story:

Had called Benny last Thursday (27th Dec 07) and enquired from him the price and availability of a particular set of tires. He informed me that he would called me back shortly aft checking with the agent. Indeed, after a short while Benny called and told me the price of the set of tires. It was much much lower than what I had expected. But he forewarned me that the agent would not be able to deliver the tires to his shop immediatly as the agent's shop was busy with other agenda and that he would call me once the tires are delivered.

Saturday came (29th Dec 07), Benny called me and told me that the tires are delivered and that I could go down to the shop to get it changed. But as I may not make it during the weekends, I told Benny that probably, I would drop by during the weekdays. Benny then double check with me the tire size again. After telling him the sizes, it was later learnt that the delivery of the front tire is of the wrong size. After apologizing he told me that he would get it changed immediatly just in case I changed my mind and decide to come down during the weekends.

Sunday morning (30th Dec 07) came , I called Benny and asked if i can drop by his shop to get my tires as I may not be free during the weekdays. Benny told me that the correct set of tires are already delivered and may drop by anytime.

That afternoon, I reached his shop. There were about 4 mechanics. working on other bikes. Benny was there, I went over thanking him for experditing the delivery of the tires . He told me to check at the side of the cashier counter and examine a set of tires if it were the ones that i needed. I double and triple checked, indeed they were. Benny then walked over to a mechanic and told him to change my tires later. But Benny requested for me to wait for a while as the mechanics had not eaten their lunch. Ok, fair enuff, all humans have to eat. I then went to a nearby hawker centre to have my own lunch . When I return, I am impressed that my rear tire had already been fixed and the mechanic was about to fix my front tire. To be truthful, I am rather sceptical that the rear tire was fixed without my supervision as previous threads had warned that you have to keep a watchful eye when the tires are fixed.

Anyway, after the front tire was fixed, the mechanic assisted to push my bike out to the main road. I then went to the cashier counter so as to make payment. At that time Benny was manning it. I asked him if it was indeed the price that he stated that day (Cos I think its too cheap to be true), He said yes. Then I asked if he accepted NETs if not I can just go and withdraw at a nearby ATM. Benny said there would be a surchage for NETs payment, but he'll forgo the surcharge so as to save the trouble of going to the ATM.

In a nutshell, Im very impressed with the way business was done. Right from the ordering of the tires to the fixing of the tires till the bikes being pushed out of the shop. The only setback was I do not know if any wheel balancing was done and that ive lost a tire cap.

Anyway, I had only went to HKL 4 times throughout my 3 years of riding. Twice for changing tires, once to accompany a friend and once to see see look look.

a) Maybe, my tire rims were thrown ard as some would claim. But to be fair, I did not see how the mechanics handle my tire rims and I cant find any scraches on the rims.

b) Maybe, wheel balancing wasnt done after tires were fixed. But to be fair, I did not see if it was or not moreover I had not asked for it as well and my ride doesnt feel crooked.

This is just my story to share to all. I shall let you judge if it is worth to go down to the shop.

ok, i voicing out my comments about the shop, went there twice to change brake hose n tires, boss friendly, mechanic gives gd advice, sometimes mechanic tends to overcharge so ask boss better, overall i will give 8/10, abit far to reach there cos i live northeast, then if they provide free drinks (cold water) n some snacks, i give 10/10 lah bros :p

this is the comment i will give for now, if HKL is really that bad as u guys mentioned, i will not patronize it again, but for now i give a :thumb:

Your ending sentence is kind of contradicting..... First you say its not bad, then you say you will not patronize it again.....

providing drinks eh? hmm seems familiar..

i stopped patronizing HKL since my friend was told off big time by benny when he tried to bargain a price with him sometime back. he was going he don't know how to carry balls and stuff. then something about another one of my friend who don't support his shop, claiming his mechanics are the best in singapore and also about the famous mr Lim's shop blah blah. i can't be bothered to listen to all his yapping i then left the second floor and went back straight to my bike.

i had no problems with the mechanics though, cos i did an EO change there before and the mechanic tightened my chain and lubed it for me FOC. also when i went there to change my brake pad once, pull out 3 rusty nails from my tyres and patched up another on my 2nd pair of tyres. all done within half and hour (and do bear in mind, on all cases, i came on a sunday).

rien d'autre que le max.

Well I spoken to ah bee and he's been apologetic right from the start for his men mistake (if any) and sincere in improving. I've also reflected to him the unneccesary harsh remarks after being spurred on. Other members not involved in this accident joined in for the fun of it which is uncalled for as they do not know what exactly happened. Got problem with him, speak to him face to face to resolved. This inccident should have been settled there and then at HKL.

Thanks for the understanding.

bro, take note of the commas in SparkerS1 sentence... wat he meant to say was now he will patronise until he himself encounter an unpleasant experiece...

If the boss is planning to expand his customer base, which he already quite big due to his cheap price. he should improve his attitude and pr. The more cust u have, the more kind of cust u will get. If he can truely win cust who value service more than price, den he will slowly see dis thread turn into something postive bout his shop.

Calling names and scolding ppl in forum or face to face is super unprofessional if u are running a business.

WAI given a good example on how a customer should be treated. Hope the boss can give dis type of service to all customer, be it good, bad, bargain hunter, dispute, butt licker. End of the day, every cent counts when running a business.
