Importance of ATGATT: Safety Gear for you, but what about your pillion?

Cyben, I've been wanting to talk to someone who actually tried that bag in SG ! Can you please tell me more about your experience with it ?

- Does it take a lot of time to set up the bag and put all the gear in it and lock it?

- How much space is left when you put the gear you described? Do you think it can fit 2 riders full gear? (2 helmets, 4 gloves, 4 boots, 2 jackets, 4 knee pads)

- Where do you lock it exactly on the bike? Frame = handle bar?

- Are the cable and lock that come with it strong enough? They look pretty small/vulnerable to me.. is that why you added the lockalarm ?

- Once the bag is folded, how much space does it take? (can it fit under a seat with no storage space?)

- Usually where did you park the bike when you left the gear in the bag, openspace carpark or MSCP ?

I am looking into this solution but I wanted local feedback on this bag as most of the reviews are done by US/Europe users and the safety there can be different from here.

I don't trust a box. I've read so much about stuff being stolen from boxes that I can't bring myself to invest in one. I'd rather carry around my gear if I have to than leave anything in a box. But this pacsafe bag seemed like a good choice, if secured properly. (I am also looking into their helmet bag..)

- Does not really take a lot of time to set up, once u get the hang of it, its easy.. Pretty tough the first time cos the bag and wire mesh still virgin.

- For my case, the motoport jacket i own is 3/4 length and with the quad armor it takes up alot of space. So one full face helmet, jacket, a pair of riding boots and pants leaves me only with little space left. Normally can fit one more open face.

- I lock it to the bike frame itself

- The lock is ok, like a small padlock. The cables are pretty thin, but did not try cutting them. Sometimes thin cables are harder to cut then thick ones. The lockalarm are just extra deterence.. sure got itchy hands wanna try check whats inside a big bag locked to a bike.

- Folded properly, it does not take so much space. depends on ur seat.

- Park in open carpark and MSCP... Its waterproof, but it never rained on the bag before so no comments.

Yep, saw some really nice ones - the kind you can only use if you have your own garage, otherwise it won't last long on the streets :cheeky: So I guess it'll be the plain old grey cheapo cover..

Don't pillion anyone. Problem solved!

Personally, I pillion only people use their own gear, and understand and accept the risks they take by riding pillion and the level and kind of protection offered by their gear. It's not realistic and justifiable for me to pay out of my own pocket to protect someone else whom I didn't even insist on riding pillion on my bike in the first place.
