I personally find the Dainese inner suit to be kiinda overpriced at > $200. Just get those Japanese ones from Motoworld, Komine or RS Taichi, at about $120 if my memory serves me right :) Also Dryfit kind...

The fat tummy is going to be a problem. You need to get those that comes with elastics at the tummy area which most suits will not have. I know Dainese has a few that has this feature but it's all > $2,000. Ask your friend to slim down. Healthier and saves money :)

Cheap ones which I'm using feels rough, tears easily. But at least it's not rubbing against my skin in the suit and it still helps me to get out of my suit easy.

It's like wearing CK underwear and those $10 for 3 underwear. Still serve the purpose if you are not fussy.

What are you looking for?

Cheap suits means low quality... thick and hard leather, hard to move around on the bike, no in stitched CE armour in the critical areas. Dun last long.

Expensive suits.... soft leather, good fit, high quality armour stitched in, easy to move around. Last long time with care.

In the end, it is a case of how much you value your skin or life.

Hi Guys,

How do you wash your leather suits?

Thanks.

Used to own a 2 pcs suit...nothing bad about it, and you could take out the top and walk around the padlock when you are not out in the track, easier to cool down and mess with your bike without the suit in the way.

But however if you thought of wearing just the top for touring or 2nd link rides, it won't work cuz the top part would be sliding up without the bottom to zipped to....

So that's why my 2nd suit is my present X Strom 1 pc.

About sayings that 2 pcs suit that could ripped apart at the area where you zipped the top and the pants together, it's up to individual....I had a fall in the track with my 2 pcs suit but nothing of such happened...Mine was however a light fall, nothing close to a high side or gravel snuggle :cheeky:

How to: Wash leathers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After asking around a bit here last week, doing some research and experimenting I found a good way to really get leathers clean. I thought I'd share with my GdC buddies

Things needed:

- Really dirty leathers (this is not something you do every week - it's time consuming and potentially hard on the leather. I had about 30K miles on my suit in all kinds of weather with only exterior cleaning before washing)

- A decent size washing machine - especially if you have a 1-piece suit...

- Soap flakes - regular washing powder is too harsh

- A thick, sturdy coat hanger - if it's too thin, it gets a sharp edge and leather gets really heavy when wet

- Leather grease - spray-on conditioners are crap

- A rag or sponge for applying the grease - I like using a small sponge

- Time - this takes several days...

How to:

- Remove protectors, knee sliders, liner (if removable), empty pockets ( ), etc. Hand wash the protectors - dish detergent works fine. And don't forget which protector goes where if they are not marked...

- Put the leathers in the washing machine with 1-1½ tablespoons of soap flakes directly on top, not in the soap tray. Don't use more than that - soap flakes foam a lot more than washing powder.

- Wash at low temperature and WITHOUT spin-drying. After you've washed leathers, you might want to run the machine once empty because there will be excess dye from the leathers left in there.

- Hang the leathers on the hanger at room temperature and a place with air circulation. Don't use heat, you risk cracking the leather... Don't hang them over carpet or similar - excess dye dripping. It will take maybe 2-3 days for it to dry.

- Apply several layers of grease with some time between layers. The leather will be stiff and dry before you apply, but afterwards it will be softer than ever. You might want to wipe excess grease off on the butt of the suit - can get kind of slippery while riding.

- Re-insert protectors, etc.

how about buying 2 pcs suit? any comments? for dainese is there alot of choice for pants that have knee sliders?

pls advice... :thumb:

There have been cases whereby during an unfortunate fall, the zip attaching the top and bottom piece ripped apart while the faller was sliding on the track.

Needless to say it was then the inner suit that was between the rider and tarmac. Inner suits provide NO protection at all.

Any suit is only as strong as the stitches or zippers that hold them together.

It is really advisable to wear a one piece if you can afford it. It is money well spent.

No rider wears a 2 piece suit in the Motogp or World Superbike series. There must be a reason behind this.
