As u guys noe that our racing suits are made of leather. therefore i would like to have shops can sew up back the torn leather on the suit. Can list out the location and shop name(preferred). Price wise (any cheap ones out there)?

look for Barb at 90277868. he do leather suit stitching and modification too. price wise, reasonably cheap:thumb:

$1K can get you a pretty good suit already. Are you looking for 1-piece or 2-piece suit? Do you know your size?

bro..yours sud be size 49-50(because of yer height),ideally get 1 piece,2 piece might split at the seam in a slide...

u can get size 50 from alpinestars or dainese~ used b oth b4, i am 1.82 with waist 32.

Want to gather some opinions here. What do you guys think of the suits currently available in Singapore? Are they...

 

1) You get what you pay for

2) Value for money

3) Overpriced

 

I refer to non-promotional prices, but after negotiations. You are welcome to quote personal experiences.

 

Also, if there is one thing to be improved about the process of buying suits, what do you want it to be?

 

1) Location of showroom

2) Availability of sizes / stock

3) Others (please specify)

$1400 for a full set of gear is quite a deal. However...

 

The price of the suit seems unlikely. Just look at the Dainese promotion earlier this year. The base model Dainese suit, price cut until cannot cut, still almost $1k. The Alpinestars suit can't be that much cheaper. To make up the balance, I think the boots are not so expensive, though. $300+ is already in Vertigo Corsa / GP-Tech category. The SMX-R is slightly lower range and shouldn't be so costly.

 

Just my .02, nothing serious... ;)

Well if ure good in d art of bargaining.. u can get d suit at dat kind of price.. but of corz its nt frm the top of d range or midrange models... n also...GP-tech is nt ard 300+.. opening price is 500 if im nt wrong..u can ask MSF67 hw much he got his GP-tech for..i tink ard 400+ n SMX plus is ard 380 so i guess SMX-R is sumwhere within 300 bucks..

Nothing beats sitting down at 3 in the morning after a long Thursday surfing SBF whilst drinking hot tea as the crickets chirp outside my window. Anyhoo, imvho....

 

1) You get what you pay for

Yes.

Suits that are at the bottom line are rightfully priced lower. Likewise for mid- and top-of-the-line suits. On most (but not all) encounters while shopping for one, suit prices are justified -- based on brand recognition, features, and where it's manufactured.

 

2) Value for money

Sorry, I'm split on this one.

 

3) Overpriced?

Some are. I do get baffled as to why some shops wanna sell suits at a higher price that aren't popular elsewhere, or that it does not come with extra trinkets of safety (eg) Titanium inserts, kangaroo leather, etc....

I find that awkward in somewhat "market-secretive" Singapore.

 

1) Location of showroom

Jalan Besar aka "Bikers' Alley", where else :D

Nah, seriously, it'd be great if the showroom is located in a premise where parking is possible right at the door or is within short walking distance.

 

2) Availability of sizes / stock

Terrible. This has to be improved.

On one shop that I went to, they didn't have my colour choice picked from a magazine because they "didn't want to bring that particular colour in."

Sizewise, it's okay.

 

3) Others

With the gripes listed above, the next time I want to buy a mid/top range suit I find myself wondering whether I should head to a neighbouring country to get a suit in the brand and color of my choice. :sian:

Ur prices quoted are plus minus there..Its a good price I got comparing to items found in SBF GS. Sellers' 2nd hand price is sometimes higher than my buying price for brand new items..
