Guys,

I have noticed that for my VFR, the sweet spot (where the fuel & air mixture is optimum for the highest mileage returns) resides in the 110 - 130 km/h range at gear 6. I topped up my tank this afternoon and discovered that on the last three top-ups, I'm averaging between 17.7 to 17.9 km/litre. This is after 2 weeks of mostly highway riding with pillion 50% of the time. This returns is a significant change from the high 15 & low 16 km/litre I used to get.

Does anyone have any other figures?

yes, it is around there, i can get 19-20km/litre on 110km/hr when touring. Of course its awfully boring on 110km/hr :b

I also realised that there is no change in fuel consumption whether its 1 rider or rider with pillion.

I'm getting 17-18+ Km/L..mostly expressway riding in Sg..sweetspot to me is above 5K rpm to just b4 Vtec kicks in cos the vtec transition is very rough

speedwise, i try to keep it at minimum 5K rpm most of the time(thats ard 108 in 5th gear and 119 in 6th gear)..i work shifts so not many vehicles on the road :thumb:

HI to all member, i am a new VFR vtec owner. still very unsure about my fuel consumption. never pillon, always have 2 side box partially filled. install pc3, stock exhaust, 3-4rpm change gear. 50% highway and normal road riding. however my fuel comsumption is nowhere near what you guys have. what to do about it? and when the reserve light blink, the last bar blink, how long it can last???. many thank to all.

hello Mr Jovi! good to see you in here.. to get the best fuel consumption, try this. accelerate gradually, change gears at 4500rpm - 5000rpm and travel at 110km/h - 115km/h. it should give you about 17km/l. try over three tankfuls of petrol. miracles dont happen overnight. once in a while go NSH and whack open your VTEC. clear that accumulated carbon.

about reserve, different bikes have different limits. to find out, carry at least 3L of spare petrol. then ride as per normal hopefully on a very quiet late night where there's very little traffic. once bar starts to blink, take note of mileage. then continue riding. once bike wants to die, clutch in, stop at the side(safely of course) and turn off your bike. take note of mileage. get the difference between the two readings and minus 30km. that's your safest bet. top up that 3 litres into your tank and top-up at the nearest petrol station.

Hey hey dinie, good to hear from you here. Many thank for Sino74 and your advise and informations. With regards to better fuel consumption, i am already riding very relax, change gears at 3000rpm - 4000rpm and travel at generally below 100km/h. but still cant get good miliage. only may be my throttle control still need many hours to improve. valve clearance have been done recently. Few reasons that i can conclude maybe because of my throttle control, power commander, and very stupid of me, i have been riding on very low pressure tires.

on singapore road only very seldom and rare, i rev and open VTEC. however i notice when v tec when used, it really drink a lot.

Try once on N-S highway back from thailand

speed 130-150km/h

290km total before reserve light blink (17km/l) :)

me in sing road max 240 blinks liao (14km/l) :(

My FC is 310+/- on 50% highway, use to get 340km before hitting reserve during my NTU days and on stock air filter, after changing to KNN, drop to 310.

Does sweet spot mean the point when fuel consumption is lowest or when the power band is best utilised?

OOoHhh, what do you mean loss them??? If seldom use the vtec will jam???

Yes bro....if u seldom open ur Vtec the carbon deposits in the Vtec valve can cause it to be jammed....
