this is no chain lube....this is a dispersant type of cleaner..

this will remove or displace your lube in the chain..resulting in no luibe in your chain fast..

very bad idea...off course there are smart alecks who swear by it..

the easiet way to maintain your chains in a clean and well lube state is a chain oiler...

do you know what does wd 40 stand for..

water dispersant..trial n0. 40....imho

Had use ezzy oiler for quite sometime...at the end of the day, i took it off, brought a jack and clean, lube myself. and this is the best i think for it.

not saying it not good but at our speed. the oiler does not make any difference...

fixed up my own DIY oiler, but i do agree dat oiler can never beat real hands-on cleaning and lubing.. but i find that at least the oiler constantly keeps the chain lubed throughout, say 1-2 weeks.. after that, still nd to clean manually i feel.. cux unless u spam alot of oil (possible covering ur whole tyre at the same time!), the chain will still accumulate sum dirt.. and since its oil, its way way easier to clean than dried up chain waxes/lube... i still do clean my chains once every 2 weeks wif sum form of mild degreaser..

A ride a day, keeps the doctor away!

yes..you are spot on..

ezzyoiler only lube at slow speed....but do not clean...

it works on the priciple of centrifugal forces...which in our bikes generated by the sprocket/chains..

for larger capacity bikes ..you will notice the sprocket diameter is much lager compared to cubs and those 150cc and below..

from test conducted..cubs need about 70 to 80 km/hr to see the effect of chain cleaning..

while 400cc bikes at 50kim/hr..the cleaning effect is noticeable..with the reccommended lubing rate..

so those who rides smaller bikes..you want cleaning effect..u have ti increase lube dosage and ride at higher speed...

i just used WD-40 to clean my chain and then lube it with maxima chain lube.

by using WD-40, did i just ruin my bike chain? o_O

using wd 40..as a regular chain lube..will harden o rings in the chain..eventually chain failure will occur sooner..

avoid using this wd 40 as chain cleaner unless you intend to flush it off with plenty of water..but best is still avoid.

once off ..should have not much effect..

I like to use WD-40, let it soak for a few minutes and drip, then hose down with plenty of water and let it dry. After that, i ride for maybe 1 or 2 short trips, let whatever fling off, then i will use my maxima chain wax. And i do this only once every 4 months haha.

Gosh i am so lazy. @ezzyoiler can give me FREE ezzyoiler? :cheeky:

EDIT: Haha, i was reading all of your previous posts. Damn funny la sia. Singer oil. Singer oil you know its for sewing machine or your tools because its very thin and light. If you put on your chain, it just gets flinged off and your rims will dirty as hell.

I tried used EO. Don't like it. Feels 'grainy'. I don't like regular chain lube. Doesn't matter what brand. The thing will fling off like hell and your rims become black. So i feel chain wax is good. Sticks on the chain very well, but its such a ***** to clean. Really damn sickening to clean. But it still works la.

Cleaned my chain and sprocket comprehensively with diesel during the weekend and used some 4t oil as lubrication.

Previously used maxima chain wax for some time. Could hear that it had stiff links when riding next to a car.

Now its very smooth and sounds consistent.

It does fling to the rim but chain and sprockets are significantly cleaner.

Maybe its the lube. Maybe its the Cleaning.

funny ar.. ahHAhahaHa.. wat to do, i love to joke..

who knows someone who likes to experiment have done it, just like brainiac..

another superb question.. are you ready?

can lube oil be mixed to manipulate their viscosity? let's put their densities out of the question..

From the manual stated if oils of different viscosity are mixed, its properties deteriorates

you can use whatever lube you want as long as it does what it suppose to do..

mixing dieffrent oils result in a new formulations ,...new properties..

not necessary deteriorations....

maybe better too..

that is only possible if you have an in depth knowledge of the properties of diferent oils..and the reactions if any...

good luck to your experiments.....

have you tried it yet? mixing excess 4t or 2t or lube oil or any other oil that matters?

i understand the filtration and other processes from getting crude oil and fossil fuel to the different types of oil and fuel that we have now and all that stuff but in the end they're still oils that can lubricate and i understand from the manual's point of view of deterioration. just like mixing jet fuel and petrol fuel, obviously the jet fuel deteriorates but what about the petrol fuel? u get what i mean?

ahahaaha.. sorry very little full stop. if i'm not wrong, there's the diy oiler who uses his excess whatever oil to lube his chain.. i mean combining his excess oil.. mayb he can enlighten me on the result of the mixture.. that would be great..

haha like whether a half tank of 92 and 98 will give you a 95 octane?

To think about it, unless emergency top up situations i cant find a reason to.

Unless you are finding for a mid grade concoction?

If its going in my engine or fork, i wouldnt want to mix them.

Anyway, there are people who use used eo as chain lube.

Its better than nothing and eco friendly. But nothing like new oil.

If its with a lot of carbon and soot, the fling off will be in black @_@

However, im using new 4t ($4 for a litre) I believe if i wipe off and lube weekly, soon the fling will be colourless.

yeah something like that.. u got what i meant as well.. great.. if it's engine stuff, i wouldn't want to do that either.. well unless i'm f-ing rich n bored.. =)

so far from what i've read in this thread, people are not simply searching for the best way/items to lube their chains, rather they want it to be within their budget(yours might be $10, mine could be 10cents, others might want it free) as well as whether their bikes can handle the quality of the lube that they put onto the chains. and that some people don't mind cleaning the chains more frequent than others just so that they can reuse or use the unused oil.. lol like tongue twister at the last part.

back to the point, we're riding diff bikes, from 2b to 2 and the replacement costs for chains n sprockets differ by a very big margin, prob 30bucks to a few hundreds.. dat's y some people rather take minimum care for their C&S.. overall i believe a good compilation list of recommended lubes/oils(including pricing) and oils that we should shun away from, would be beneficial to all and to reduce repeated questions. yeah i know how it feels being asked repeatedly n consistently = somehow irritated. =P
