Dead tired! After I left, I went straight to Ubi to see my mechanic for abit. Alot of displeasures that I needed to resolve. Still shitloads of sand everywhere in the bike.

I believe everyone who attended rode off with a lesson learnt.

You should have just said something. I was too stoned to have talked to anyone except to the mech to get the job done fast. I badly wanted to go home and sleep..

Hey Raptor. Appreciate the effort. Do let me know if there are newbie sessions coming on. Just read the thread and is very interested. I have a simple FF, jeans no knee guard. Normal jackets. no gloves yet but can borrow and boots (not riding types). What do you think.

I'm very interested in the session itself please PM me the details of the session if possible.

i juz been adviced by a veteran and by an engineer that riding my 250 at the circuit is stressful to the engine as i only play gears 2&3.

any alternative thoughts?

Hmmm I was hitting 11K all the time on my NSR150SP on 2nd and 3rd at the track. Since you will have more power and hence taller gearing, I doubt you'll be revving that high :)

Chong Aik Roadracing Championship Round 3 has been postponed to next week Sunday 11th Oct.

So, I am free this Saturday to do another newbie session. Add your name to the list if you are interested. .

Date: Saturday 3 Oct 2009

Time: 8 AM to 10 AM.

Cost: $30 for track fees payable at the track itself.

Limited to 10 riders only... that's all I can handle.

Safety Gear: Leather suits is optional. Minimum you must have is a full face helmet, gloves, boots or riding shoes that cover your ankles, jeans with knee guards preferred and jackets with armour preferred...its your skin anyway.

Coaching is free.

What will be taught:

1. Suspension and tyres set up for track riding.

2. Correct posture for corners.

3. Braking, dowshifting and acceleration points.

4. How to read corners and the correct gearing and linings through them.

5. Track rules and discipline.

We will walk the track to understand and appreciate the linings through the corners. On track guidance will be given as you ride if you need it. The aim of this session is to make you a safer track rider and how to take corners in the correct way. You will learn the techniques of track riding and how to ride fast... but how fast you go is up to your own ability to learn fast.

This is not a race session nor a session to teach you how to race. Its for you to learn about your own riding ability and the handling of your machine.

But most of all.. its for have an enjoyable time trying out track riding without all the high speed demons scaring you.

Start a name list here if you wish to join this session.

yah that's what i tot at first too.

that if i didn't rev high, it means the engine's not stressed.

but they tell me its not the case.

the stress is because gear 2 is used quite a majority of the time.

anyway, big upz to raptor to give us a very good opportunity to learn.

$30 is more than worth it.

hope that your effort will be much appreciated and be beneficial.

Gearboxes are built to handle such stresses especially on our bikes which are meant to be revved very high. When you are cruising at say 6000rpm in 6th assuming your final ratio is 1.0, the secondary shaft ( connected to the sprocket ) is also spinning at 6000rpm. So does that mean if you cruise a lot then 6th gear will be stressed? ;) and yes the secondary will be doing lot less spinning in 2nd gear even if you're revving high. I personally feel my gearbox shifts better at higher RPMs, so keep em engines and gearboxes revving high :thumb:
