yahoo[/MENTION].com;7645625]I didn't buy his bike. I got another bike by the way.

Thanks for the replies, beesee and the!

Am picking up my black 1250sa tomorrow:cool:

Went to boonsiew, sat on a vfr1200, fell in love, looked at the price tag

ran all the way to Defu lane and wrote a cheque for a bandit:)

Now I'm looking for a good top box - coocase does not make racks for the bandit, so am planning to buy a h&b rack and fit a coocase on it - lets see how that goes!

Thanks bro! The only thing that made me lean towards Coocase earlier was that givi would take 2 months to bring in the mount for the bandit (I checked with mah/cycle net). But now, thanks to you sharing your bro's 'wet' experience, I think I will wait for givi. Or search for a shop that has stock!

Will vpost (US shipping address) work for an e-order on their US website? - much faster than 2 months.

I have the same issue with other accessories (Givi racks for example) - planing to go to twisted throttle and direct to ZG, Sargent etc. and try to use vpost for shipping. let's see!

My ZG touring shield is on its way to Singapore. unless you cannot wait for Unique to bring in, no point buying online - It is waaay more ex!

if ride-slow's GSF Givi shield fits our GSX, that should be a good deal?

Anybody here has tried:

1. tank grip pads? - curious if it helps for an almost upright position for our bandit?

2. Pilot Road 3 tires? - Reviews online recommend Pilot Road 3 over stock BT021. Anybody here have experience with Road 3s?

Thanks!

fc around 17.5 km/l - highway / city riding in Singapore on 97 octane fuel

Power - practical power for city riding (tons of low end torque) and most touring needs - lacks top end power - very diff from FZ1 (I am told)

Issues - don't like the spongy brakes, did not like the seat (changed to Sargent seat for 550 at Autocom @ Tradehub 21 - fantastic service!), stock screen not enough for touring for 172 cm, average build guy (changed to ZG sports touring screen at Unique Motor @ Autobay)

Comparison with FZ - I have never ridden a FZ1 but fellow forumer has written on TWT about comparison (5th post from top):

Thanks for the insights garfield! hmm.. i am still considering between this and fazer.. i hardly see this bike on the road.. that makes it unique but also makes me wonder why no one is getting it especially since its priced so competitively.. haha..

Using PR2 now , overall suit the bike very well . Better grip in dry and wet as compare with BT021. PR3 definitely better in terms of better grip compare with PR2 and last longer . Confirm u sure won't regret.

Changing bike again bro ??? Haha !!

I have rode a new 2009 FZ1 for 15 months before I sold it and traded in for new GSX1250.

Both bikes have its good and bad points

1) FC - GSX1250 ( 16 to 17.5l per km )have better FC as compare with FZ1 (15 to 16l per km)

2) Power - GSX1250 have tons of low end torque as compare with FZ1 asthmatic low end below 6k rpm. FZ1 have better top end But the engine is very rough and lots of vibration at top end as FZ1 engine is not counter-balanced as compare with the much smoother gsx1250.

3) Handling/suspension - FZ1 better as compare with low end budget gsx1250.

4) weight - gsx1250 much heavier than FZ1 ( 257kg compare with 220kg ) but the weight is gone when the bike is on the move .

So that's about it . Happy shopping .

Thanks a lot, bro! This helps my decision - will change to PR3's then!

My thoughts exactly - when I was shortlisting bikes! This offers very good value for money & it is a great 'platform' to customize / add farkles to, but is not popular?

May be because it is perceived to be (fairly so) old technology / it lives in the shadow of Hayabusa / it is a 'plain jane' bike with no major new or sexy feature?

It has quite a following in Oz/NZ, UK and recently in the US (Suzuki apparently only recently started exporting this model to the U.S.), so this model is not exactly a dud worldwide - but for us in Singapore ...

For whatever its worth - my thought process in selecting this bike was:

I like torquey bikes and wanted a reliable bike that can commute well (should take luggage well and have good low end torque with decent FC) and not be a slouch on the North South Highway either

I looked at the VFR, Multistrada and the Bandit - My heart liked the VFR, my wallet chose the bandit :)

If you want to have a feel of the bike, just drop me a PM and we could catch up in Sing or head North.
