Risky Corners List

This thread is started for all riders to post notice of high risk corners on Singapore roads. It is not intended that riders will remember the compiled list, if this thread survives, but hopefully it will be an attention-grabber for new riders to take note of roads they MAY use, and for old birds who want any info on a new area they riding into.

 

I shall start with this-KJE to BKE (south bound towards PIE) This corner bends gently and is uphill at first, and then it will curve quite steeply and go downhill at the same time in the second half, bringing your bike to the outside of the curve unless you lean more or slow down. Posting here as i buang there 5 months ago-front tire lost traction, skid and went down. Recently saw black paint marks several metres long on the right side concrete barrier, means car also buang and scratch the wall, on top of another one or two buang cars i saw stop right after the bend.

 

Hope riders will post here to warn others, and that if a thread has been posted on a corner you wish to mention, not to double-post unless you have a noteworthy comment to add.

 

Lastly, a caution to all to go slow when you riding into new routes. Tendency for people is to avert wrong turns when recceing new routes, and accidents often happen to experienced riders when they are not familiar with the route. Have a safe ride. Ride safely another day.

Good intentions from threadstarter, but in my opinion, any corner is a dangerous corner if the rider decides to leave his brain at home.

 

Familiar corners are even more dangerous, as riders tend to be overconfident and frequently forget that there may be foreign objects on the road.

Are you referring to the reducing radius turn that you cannot see the exit? going from tuas changi direction i think.

But on the opposite side of this bend is another bend !

 

BKE to KJE bend bound for PIE ( TUAS )

 

This one is less devilish ...but last time there were metals plates on the tarmac

 

dun noe for wad also , may pose danger cause skid when rainy time

the ones heading to J.B...tat one is dangerous.....small n sandy...

the one frm tampines going over to ubi that super long fly over over looking the sand quarry one also care ful ppl tend to speed all the way not knowing that the ending curve out is sharp near 90degree bend. So many accident there liao

toa payoh going towards PIE Jurong. the long left bend, need to check blind spot at the end of the bend to see if any cars changing lanes.

adam turning into PIE (towards changi)... downwarding sloping bend.. fren buang there before, travelling at 60km/h... travel there once in a while, always seems sandy...

If you can start a thread on Corners that are RISKY to bikers....WHY DON'T START A THREAD AND MAKE IT STICKY.... TITLED.....Risky Riders List!...afterall...don't blame the corner it is always the rider that should alter his attitude towards riding!

 

Forumers would then post the bike numbers ( better if with Pics!) of those riders who 'they' considered as Risky!

 

Top to make it to the list would be ..

 

1) KFC & Pizza Hut Riders!

 

2) Despatch riders

 

2) Riders who are of a certain 'race'...

 

3) Riders who should not even have been riding a bicycle!..and many others!

I do believe tat no corner is dangerous or risky if we were to ride within our limits .
