i used to get leg cramps in the riding school. however, proper warm up and stretching got rid of them. i chalk that to riding infrequently and my muscles not being used to the posture.

now that i am riding almost everyday, i find that i do not get cramps as much. in fact, i can only remember having it twice. again, proper stretching will alleviate most incidences. however, cramps can become more of a problem when you are wearing pants that are too tight around the thighs and calves. choosing more comfortable attire will certainly go a long way towards preventing the onset of cramps.

but if cramps do occur, then your best bet is to stop, hydrate, stretch, and resume. riding with a cramp isn't just uncomfortable, it can be dangerous as the cramp is taking up more of your attention than you can afford to give, leaving you less to focus on the road and traffic that you need to negotiate. the alternative is to try standing on your bike (safely) to stretch. i do not recommend this if you are riding a normal road bike at high speed. but on my TW200 at slow speeds of 30-40kph it is do-able.

all the best!

if your riding and u get cramps/pain, try putting your middle foot on the pegs instead of ur heels on peg and ball on brake/gear. it should relieve some pain/more comfortable.

good when you are traveling on highway(cruising)

Life is not the amount of breath u take, but the moments that take ur breath away.

It is not how hard you fall, its how fast you get up.

Your sitting position on your bike might restrict blood circulation, leading to leg cramp.

For some, through more riding, their body will get use to the sitting position and the cramps go over.

You can also try:

- shifting yourself on the seat and not stay put on one spot too long--notice that more likely to get cramps on long motorway/expressway ride instead of on trunk road/cornering rides

- change your attire--pants can play a part they become tight when you sit on a bike

- change seat--small contact patch on your butt can promote cramps

- change bike--the more acute the angle of your knee bend, the more likely to get leg cramps.

Accidents often occurred when drivers and riders are tired .

Especially when travelling long distances , and on very straight roads .....

Sitting in a fixed position for long periods , causes strain and fatigue both physically and mentally , hence whenever one feels discomfort, tired or fatigue , it is best to stop in a safe place , get off your bikes or cars , take a walk , relax ,refresh yourselves , if u need to puff , or seep a drink , go ahead .

Rest for awhile before you continue your journey .

It is really not worth taking the chance .

Cramps are common especially when age catches up with us , better to stop and rest , before continuing , regardless of time or circumstances.

Having distractions because of physical constraints , not only is risky ,it also pose danger to all road users .

So take care .

hmm for me, i do get cramps when the weather is cold. especially if riding at expressways during night time or rainy days. thus i'll try to avoid expressways at night & also wriggle my toes when it attacks. :D

I will try to stretch my leg by lifting my butt off the seat. It like trying to stand up but the hands still on the handlebar. The cramp will go off in a while then I will just sit back.

wriggle toes? its cramp wor, not numb leiz.

i guess the cramp should be at the thigh areas for most bikers bahz, i just move my leg away from the footpeg and stretch it til the cramp is gone.
