my advice, stay away from dr ali... go to better trusted shop for valve clearance. if the shop do valve clearance too tight or too loose, it will damage the whole engine. we all know engine parts are not cheap.

 

valve clearance takes abt 2 days cost $120

my advice, stay away from dr ali... go to better trusted shop for valve clearance. if the shop do valve clearance too tight or too loose, it will damage the whole engine. we all know engine parts are not cheap.

 

valve clearance takes abt 2 days cost $120

 

may u share yr experience with doctor ali wif mi. Jz curious...

 

yeah...agree engine parts are expensive!

wat is the difference between valve clearance & top overhaul. Mine is a high mileage bike therefore planning 2 go for major servicing b4 problem occure.

wat is the difference between valve clearance & top overhaul. Mine is a high mileage bike therefore planning 2 go for major servicing b4 problem occure.

 

Valve clearance job is adjusting the clearance between the cam and the follower. If the gap is too big,bike got no power due to the valve not opening big enough for optimum peformance and if its too tight,the valve will not close properly,thus you have compression leak and overtime burned valve due to the valve not able to transfer the heat from the face to valve seat. Here's a picture showing my bike's no.1,exhaust camshaft.

 

If your bike mileage is more than 150K km,maybe just top service will do,overhaul is like changing almost every moving parts and seals.Will cost you a bomb!..

i kind of concern about timing belt or timing chain tink which i nt realli sure wat issit about.

 

Sld tis timing belt or chain b replaced too during valve clearance. Since oready open engine liao. Hw it works? Hw much will it cost? Which shop does it job best?

Timing chain,timing chain tensioner and valve clearance job should be ok for your bike,unless the mechanic found out that you have compression leakage.(causes would be intake or exhaust valve not fully seated on valve seat,piston's compression ring worn,leakage near the cylinder head gaskets or etc). Best is to let them see the wear and tear.What i mention is just guidelines only.

Try checking the advertisement section,price list thread or best to go down those bikeshop and talk with the boss.

ah chong planet does a gd job at decent price. check for worn out clutch plates and pin jets too
