I went to the shop next to aboy 2 weeks ago and they offer me a white wall rubber to be placed on your stock tires. I'm not sure how it will work but you can ask. It's the shop that has a lot of chrome cruiser accessories and sell stickers next to the shop that do seat cover on the same row with aboy shop.

Good luck.

Hi guys, just sharing... I was at the shop during lunch hours and i enquire about the price of the white walls. she quoted me $35 for a pair.( one tire need a pair as its fitted on each side of the walls, so two pair is required for both front and rear)

She also say that she has all sizes. I am pretty interested, just that i am sceptical that it will turn out looking kinda tacky later on...

Price sound reasonable.....

I dun think the price is includesive of installation. By the looks of it, its a pretty universal type of white rubber ring. Same type as those used by the Volks Bug car. size ranges from 12" to 17"

managed to dig up this thread as i have to change tires soon... hmm still no place selling whitewalls huh? the slip-ons don't sound too good actually but judging from the pricing... it's abt $100+- if u include installation and everything... if the original whitewall is about the same price, i'd rather get the real thing.. :p

I've heard that adding white walls to your existing tires may adversely affect tire balance. This can be destabilising at speed can the tires to wobble.

I can't vouch for the reliability of this personally, but only share what i've picked up from other forums. Please do your homework carefully, otherwise you may end up needing to buy new tires or rebalancing your "re-furbished" set.

I know this is an old thread but it's good to know nonetheless.

white wall tyres

==========

If got money , get the real ones. Easy.

If no money, paint them. but use stretchable paint (not spray cans)

It will inevitably crack after a few weeks and also get dirty very quickly but at least you'll have a few days of glorious riding .

cheers

i still have a few cans of that whitewall tire paint from iceland. it's quite good actually. the manufacturer originally used it for restoring vintage mercedes benz cars.

it can be quite troublesome to order from the seller cos he doesn't accept paypal or credit cards. i had to go to dbs to mail a money order all the way to iceland. dbs also charged me for this service. about 10 or 20 bucks, if i recall correctly. pm me if interested to buy some of my paint.

Local shops should not have a problem getting the Metzeler ME 880 white wall tire if you order in advance from the distributor. Below are the production information extracted from their official website.

ME880 FRONT Front

150/80-16M/CTL 71HFRONT WW ME880F

100/90-19M/C 57SWW ME880F

130/90-16M/CTL 67HFRONT WW ME880F

ME880 Rear

150/80B16M/CTL 71HWW ME880

170/80-15M/C 77SWW ME880

170/80-15M/CTL 77HWW ME880

130/90-16M/C REINFTL 73HWW ME880

140/90B16M/C REINFTL 77HWW ME880

If you have other tire size other than the above, you may want to consider getting the white wall liner from the Aunt shop along Kelantan lane.
