Yup, my colleague on a 929 running BT014 complains the wet is not good. His first trip to the tracks at PG, he's tremendously happy with it. He could drop 2 gears before a corner and just open without any slides.....but now his tyres 50% worn, he told me start to feel sliding, and have to be more relax. He's a bit disappointed. As he rides the bike daily, he only enjoyed the tyres for 2 - 3 track sessions

The wet grip was his main complaint since day 1 he got these tyres and now it's raining season, so imagine my ears, ha ha ha :D

Coincidentally, I have another fren riding the same bike with the same tyres. I could ask that fren if he felt the same thing or not.

i'm using bt014 too..

1st week on the rd was great..

so far 2 track sessions..

but after that.. tyres dun seem to grip that well..

and rainy days are scary..

my bike's rear slided even @ low speed.. gd thing so far never fall..

tyres only 2mths old

Some people measure their adventures in miles or days. I prefer "lamp posts".

hey should try out continental sports attack tires as me just changed a pair. Take the softest compound which has an extra tread pattern on the centre of the tyre.

Day 1 me changed it (07-01) yesterday, done 100 over millage in wet weather with the new layer of wax and really no KICKBACK. A class 2 750k4 changed it n went PG, came back with gd feedbacks. Me on e K1 750 and of cos also have doubts with the tires. But me have done research on the net of this tires, SPORTS ATTACK (NEWEST KIND OF TIRES THEY HAVE) WITH THE SOFTEST COMPOUND THEY HAVE , RUBBER TECH ARE CALL THE BLACK CHILLIS WHICH REQUIRE A LITTLE TIME TO WARM UP, 0 DEGREES STEEL BELT, & A FEW MORE. STATED ON THE SITE _ NO KICKBACK TESTED. Lean angle 50 degrees......more than enough on road, haha now no balls liao. but still addicted to few bends in singapore.

ALTHOUGHT HAVE TESTED MANY TIRES WHEN BRAND NEW, BUT THIS 1 IS THE 1 WHICH GAVE ME THE CONFIDENT RITE FROM THE START. have e high confident that this tires will have quite gd feedbacks after awhile. Can change it at BIKEWORKZ as they gave me a very gd price.(their market price with everthing included , balancing install), Another biker with high millage everyday on the road, of cos me willing to try CONti Tires out as they are the most economics 1. w=Might also try it on the track soon after the rainy season. (think the soft compound only for class 2 bikes) n dun really listen to some bike shops saying of this n that of this tires(of cos all will say Michelin gd mah) Gd luck!

Bro, impossible.....as it's still a HP Sports, not a race tyre.

Continental claims it uses some special carcass design, so it's possible to use the softest compound yet without sacrificing tyre wear. It's softer to comparable tyres, but not to race tyres.

When I put on my ContiForce Max, it's the softest tyre in their range then, but nothing close to my previous RS2. It's harder.

Though I never put on the Sports Attack, I hope it will be as good as Pirelli DC :cheeky: That will be good enuff and hope they would consider making race tyres, hee hee....So far Contis keep stressing "road tyre" here and there. So it's definately a HP Sports. According to what I read, there's no compound selection at all.

The only tyre from Continental they claim okay for track is the Road Attack SM (SuperMoto or SuperMotard). They wrote "New sports tyre exclusively for Supermotard use for both Road and Track". I think the tyre size good for 400cc.....120/70-17 Front and 150/60-17 & 160/60-17 Rear. But it's for SM though, probably design with "slide intention" :giddy: But they also quote "Extreme ease of handling combined with extraordinary high levels of cornering grip" and "High levels of control and feedback when riding on the limit".

Aiyah, you never read my post properly leh :cheeky:

$400 a pair from KinTai, $50 labour at my fav shop.....a bit ex I should say, but I really want the ContiForce Max so I dun mind paying more. Maybe you could try HKL to see if they could get a pair from you at a better price since they are selling some Contis now.

I'm not on a busa....a perticuliar 750cc V Twin. I would say turn in seems a bit slower than DC, grip on local street is good, wear is minimal (lasting). I took a trip to Mersing to scrub these tyres but the wear seems very little. But honestly, since I go PG, I hardly play corners on the street liao. But I do admit I still "enjoy" a few certain local corners and the U turn at GP 2nd link. These tyres works fine for me, especially the slick portion during dry.

BUT I was expecting more from these tyres on track, so a little disappointed. Maybe I would try a 2.2Bar front and 2.5Bar rear as per recommended by Continental for street/track and the usual 2.2bar front and rear to see if there's any differences.

Read the link on my post above to get some feedbacks. Quite a neutral feedback.

Hey, for $50 more you can get Racetecs from LAB. Some more you don't ride your bike to work like I do everyday.

Plus my style of riding on the track, I can easily get 6 to 8 track sessions out of them. All the more you should get the Racetecs coz you don't go track as often as me.

Racetecs really grip like glue, very confidence inspiring. I wore out the front of my last set till the right side grooves were gone while chasing shedevil21 round the track, and you know she don't ride slow through the corners.

The tyre started to give me early warnings when I flicked the bike over from Turn 7 into Turn 8. Could feel the front sliding slightly and gripping again. I just put on a new pair, but this time with a 180/55 rear and went for one track session last week with it. Bike is now quicker steering into the corners (geometry setup is higher at the back, like dropping the forks a few mm) and can go lower coz of the profile... it actually puts alot of contact patch down when leaned over due to the 'sharper' profile.

I would rather fork another $50 and pay $450 for Racetecs than to fork out $2800 for replacement fairings, pegs, mirrors, signal lights and footpegs.

I would really love to find a cheaper alternative tyre for track than Racetecs but somehow I just don't have the confidence to try them. I hate regrets.

BTW - how are the little ones, hope they are doing fine. :thumb:

Wow!!! Never expect to see you post here.....

Anyways, that time I was kindda interested in the ContiForce Max because of the slicks at the sides and also, no one is willing to try a pair to review. So I paid a bit more and took the risk. Can say I'm happy with the tyres OTR but 75% satisfied on the track. I agree that the last set of RS2 gave me more confidence, though I was not any faster. (That's why I'm trying to sneak out to PG and waste those tyres, hee hee.....but bike will be down as the clutch slave cylinder is leaking slightly. Waiting for spares from US. Not very bad leak, but I dun like hydraulic leak. Dun seems ethically right to go track in this condition.)

Dun worry, my next set would be race tyres again. And I'm forgetting about Conti Sports Attack already as I'm should be getting some used RaceTechs in a while. Dun worry, they are only used for 3 sessions and condition is good. As least good enuff for me. Even my RS2 are used, and from the same source, also used for 3 sessions only :cheeky:

The little ones are doing real well....when they could now literally scream for feeds. :sian: But okay lah, quite fun also.... :cheeky: Once they can sleep thru the night without waking up for feeds, I'll be back on track. :thumb:

Er....$400 for the tyres plus $50 for labour, actually I was paying $450 all in all for my ContiForce Max....I know I know....it's just for the sake of trying, not intending to go crazy on them at PG if they do not give me the confidence. And as of now, not yet.....not even the confidence level of DC :sian:

Ha ha, cheaper alternative??? Nah, once on race tyres in track, forever race tyres unless give up track riding. That's how I feel too. Cheaper alternative is, say...cheaper race tyres options like Dunlop GP-A. I have a fren who moved down from Michelin to Metzeller....cannot stand the ratio of 2 Michelin change to 3 Metzeller change. He stopped track for a long time....wondering when will he be back. He crashed his bike into the wall at PG, knocked out for 10 mins before he went to PP Det and lay off the bike. He was chasing a R1 and the R1 closed door on him and he had to run off track to avoid the collision. The bike is still in Minerva, waiting for parts.....same bike as mine. Stock, only mag wheels and steel braided hose mods on RS2.

Purchased the ContiForce SM package yesterday @ $350. The tires included in it are 120/70 and 160/60. They did not have the 150/60 which I wanted.

heard tat race tires are prone to rain, isit?

What brands re considered as race tires.

Prone to rain??? You mean, tends to slide easily in the rain is it??? There's mixed reviews about this...some say yes, some say no. Race tyres has this slick portion at the sides, and they do not heat up enough to grip very well. Like race brake pads, race tyres need heat to work well.

Many brands carry race tyres.

Dunlop 208GP

Metzeller Rennsports, Metzeller RaceTech

Pirelli SuperCorsa Pro

Michellin Pilot Race, Michellin Power Race

Bridgestone BT002, BT002Pro

And a few more....

By right race tyres are meant for races only, but since they are DOT approved for use on road, TPs will not stop you should you put on race tyres for road use. Unlike scrams tyres have road or Not For Highway Use specs.

Use race tyres for road only instead of track, not advisable.....wear rate too high.

Different tyres lah.....City Demon quite street, for kup and RXK, while the Pirelli Dragon more sporty, caters for 250cc and above. Different tyres for different purpose.

What makes you think they are equivalent??? :cheeky:

is BT020 good enough for my cb1300?

my requirements

grip: above average wil do, cos i dun 'play' corners

mileage: the longer it can last, the better

pricing: not too expensive

availability: my front is 130/70, rear 190/50.. not many models to choose for my front.

any better recommendations?

BT020 lasting!!!

Can try Continental ContiForce, lasting too. Don't take the Contiforce Max if you want a more mileage tyre :thumb:

im using 2nd sets of m1 now very good tyres.but they wear out very fast..im sure m3 will be much better with + mileage but they are still sports tyre..cant compare lasting milage to those sports touring tyres like strada n z6..i sure the price for m3 will be at $500 like diablo cosa and pilot sports..i think im leaning towards much better mileage sports touring tyres(roadtec tyres) like the new diablo strada or z6.

i think for sports touring bike(heavier bikes) and those who doesnt goes track (roadtec z6 and STRADA are the tyres for them. mileage n price tag at 400++

for 600,1000s who does Commuting, touring, recreational riding and weekend tracks m3s(sportec),diablo cosas are more suitable for them..
