I kinda find that Michelin Pilot Power Race (Dual compound) gives an awsome confidence inspiring grip and a better feedback on the track than Metzelers Racetecs K2s. Seem to last slightly longer too.

Had a set of Pilot Power Race (Soft Compound) on the DRZ. Could go as low in the corners till my toe sliders scraped the tarmac and they still held. :lovestruck:

Sadly, none in stock now. If anyone knows a shop that stocks them... do let me know. Thanks.

Price of Conti Roadattack??Include balance or w/o Sizes= 120, 160/60 :giddy: :help: And where is it?

Some biker once said " If u haven't been to Gerik, U haven't been touring in Malaysia".

Put on Dunlop GPR70s on the DRZ and Aprilla 125RS. Looks like they are good tyres of lightweight bikes.

Impressive grip at the track and the bikes handle really well.

But I just got this feeling they won't last very long... but then again I don't care. Awe inspiring grip is what I am looking for in tyres for my bikes.

After all, my life rides on them.

Hi, I am currently using a set of Dunlop Qualifier. And I discover tat the front tire tread pattern is somehow different from wat I seen in the magazine. Ok well, the rear tread pattern is the same as I seen in magazine. But my front tire did have the word "Qualifier". Can any one enlighten me. Why the Qualifier front tread tire of mine look different as the Qualifier as seen in magazine??

BT39SS is made for small bikes. BT39 is not. Forget the BT39, get the BT39SS ALWAYS. They come in the stock sizes for SP (90 front 120 rear) and give great grip for both road and track. I used them on my SP last time. Very confidence inspiring.

Now I am using GPR70SP on my CBR400RR. Very good grip on track at 30~31psi. Tyre wear is not excessive, and corner stability is good. I did my first kneeslides on these tyres, so go figure. People like to complain that these tyres wear out fast. But would you rather replace your tyres more often, or slide out and fix even more damages?

Will the Metzeler M3 outperform the Michelin Pilot Powers 2CT?

hey bro! ure what does ure 675 uses for stock?? my Stock QUalifier are gettin really really thin liao.. need to survey for really good grippy tyres...

to be frank..

Qualifier are really good for street... but if u push it too hard on the DOwnShift gear esp frm abt 190-200 to neg a corner...

it'll tend to skidd here and there(and i tot the r6 slipper clutch was handling that)... .

so i tot..

i rather spend on good quality tyres tat dont last really long rather than gettin bed ridden at some hosp.(choy! touch wood!!)

Hi. I'm on Pirelli Super Corsa Pro street compound stock tires. IMO, a really good dry tire, but a bad wet tire. Thus, I'm likely to change to an all-weather street tire 'coz I'm more pro-road trips than track. The Super Corsas comes in SC-0,1,2 or 3 race compound tires, as well as the non-SC rated street compound tires. These street compound tires which I'm on now are stock tires, but has no threads on its sides, so come rain, better stay upright ... bad news for touring. But as a street tire, it should be better than any other street tires for track purpose.

Here's some comments regarding Metzeler M3 from R6-Forum.

Yes it's true bitches. I put just over 500 miles on these badboys yesterday and all I can say is, ****ING WOW, Metzeler did their Research and Development on this tire.

The first thing you notice about these tires is just how meaty they are. I don't know the specific void ratio's for M3's or Pilot Powers, but the M3's look like EVEN LESS tread is cut out of the rubber. The M3 tread pattern isn't as undeniably cool looking as the Pilot Power, but once you actually get them on the road you will not give it a second thought.

On the road, the I noticed how much stiffer the sidewalls on these tires are then the Powers. I always run 32 front 34 rear in my tires, and the M3's gave a noticeably firmer ride. At first, this sounds like a bad thing, but once the pace picks up, its perfect. Even though the tire is a bit stiffer, the bike is not upset nearly as much in a mid-corner bump as compared to the Powers.

These tires heat-up very quickly, but even when cold still slide around predictably, these tires nearly refuse to break loose, even when while hauling ass up a 180 degree on-ramp in 58 degree morning temps yesterday.

And once the tires are warmed up, there is an unbelievable amount of grip available. I do not hesitate to say these tires are stickier than Pilot Powers. So sticky in fact, that I was only able to slide the rear end out twice the entire (and believe me I was trying to) and one of those times was obviously attributable to the road surface. I reached a point with the Powers that the clutch almost seemed to be slipping I was spinning the rear up so much coming out of some turns.

The only point when the M3 stepped out was amazing and left a huge grin inside my helmet. I was exiting a very tight, uphill, 2nd gear corner. I whack the throttle open, trying to induce tire spin, the rear steps out maybe 2 inches and continues to hold the line. As I'm coming up the hill the rear is gripping so much while spinning, the bars start to waggle back and forth. Then approaching the end of the corner the front wheel comes off the ground exiting the corner while still leaned over, an impressive feat for a 600 cc motorcycle with 215 pounds of gear and rider on top

I believe some people will think negatively of the profile of the tire, but I find it better for road riding than the Power. The tire is more rounded, so turn-in takes a bit more effort. This tire doesn't have that sometmes uneasy feeling of "falling" into a corner, or feeling like once you pick a line, the tire just wants to continue to fall over even farther. Once you pick a line, the M3 stays there, almost to the point of being a bit of effort to get the bike back upright, even on the gas.......HARD!

I'm so thoroughly impressed with this tire, that even my recent streak of wanting to test all the sport tires as the current ones where out, may be put on hold by the discovery of these tires!!!

*P.S. In case you guys are interested, Metzeler is launching it's Sportec M3 at PG next month.

It's a 2 day event which include 1 night's stay, food, goodie bags like T shirt etc, track usage,5th rider giving pointers etc all these for the price of $450... i think good deal!

For $450 with above, it's worth it!!!

I'm close to binning my set of Taiwanese Duros, and will need to fit a fresh set of tyres for my 400cc corner-carver.

So tell me fellas:

1) What's your favourite set of tyres?

2) Why?

3) How many km did it last you?

for a middleweight bikes, i would recommend either dunlop gpr70 or bridgestone090. dis tyres gave u the stikyness dat u needed for dat highspeed cornering without a doubt.... prices is around 300 per set depending on which shop u go... recommended size for 400cc bike is front 110/70 rear 160/55 or 50.

M3 indeed sound awesome ... but wonder if they're talking about the original MPP or the newer MPP 2CT?
