I have just been informed by Sepang International Circuit that it has revised its trackday and track session rates upwards by RM50 for next year.Beginning in December 2009, they have raised their rates as follows:

a. Two-hour track session- RM 150 (Previous rate was RM100)

b. Three-hour Track Session - RM 200 (Previous rate was RM150)

No explanation was given for this relatively large increase in rates (the

last revision was in 2004/5, when three-hour sessions were revised upwards to RM100 from RM80). The rates apply to both Open Trackdays and Private Bookings. This is bad news for all of us who make frequent pilgrimages to Sepang. Even the car trackgoers will have to pay more. Hopefully they will put the additional income to good use in sprucing up the track and making available more amenities for track users.

Now, does anyone wonder what PG management would do on hearing this news? :slapforehead:

I think it reasonable, as our exchange rate is high. Wait till the changi circuit open. Then, we can see how much they are charging.

The law of supply and demand prevails.

Am sure PG will follow suit.

Has the tender for changi track been announced ??

Last time i checked, not all bids have bike sessions in mind...

If PG gonna raise their rates, given the condition of the tarmac...

erm... Sigh Sigh.

Can i check with you guys on the mode of transporation to Sepang?

Ride there and rest for a while then track

or organise a lorry ferry service?

Planning on going.

But only a 400cc..... a bit tiring for me.

Thats still cheap, compared to other international tracks (AU$200+ for Philip Island).

With the increase in cost I hope there is an improvement in service too, ie. Proper marshalling of bikes, splitting bikes into groups.

I always see some superbikes in

I think issues of price/cost should be relative. The labour rates, income levels and taxation (GST, local taxes etc.) in Australia are much higher than in Malaysia.

But that does not detract from the fact that we get to ride a world-class circuit for a lot less than other countries charge.

The problem is that the facilitiy is still not matched by world-class service standards, and issues like maintenance has fallen behind. Lets hope that with the help of everyone, SIC improves in 2010.

I guess for those track goers like me who goes to Sepang once in a blue moon (so far only once actually ), don't really feel the pinch. However for those avid, regular racers, damn! Can really burn a hole in their pockets. Maybe the Sepang management can come up with a membership plan for the regulars where they pay a flat fee to use the track for a duration of 3 months or something...:bouncefire:

First learn stand, then learn fly. Nature's rules biker-sans. Not mine...
