Good day ST riders!

I've just gotten a ST11 from a fellow forumer today! It's a 94 version, FL plate. Bike is in the workshop having re-spray, hope it'll be done by next weekend. I'm so excited after reading the experiences you all have on your STs! I'm looking forward for meetups or trips! Got it to fulfil my passion for touring!

I stay in Hougang and study in the west, do call me along if you're going in by 2nd link for a pump or meeting up for a supper session! :D I'm totally new to this bike and would like to learn anything and everything about it from any of you!

congrats on your ride. Do keep a check on the common worn out parts for the age of your bike.

I really really wish to! I don't think my bike will be done by then, I'll contact you if I get it back by Fri! I sometimes stay at my friend's house in Jurong West, we can meet up for informal pumping or kopi! Cheers!

It should be normal. The tire is still brand new..so avoid making rossi bends. The shop should have done some balancing. By the way BT021 is a newer ver than BT020.

Thank you so much! I've lots to learn about this bike from you all. Which bike shop do you all go to to service your STs? Any reputable recommendation with reasonable pricing?

Will be getting my bike around 22nd this month. Hope to join you guys for rides soon.

Been riding my gun-metal-grey beast for the past 7mth......until recently i experience overheating,my temperature shot to red bar,and coolant flowing at the pump area.after sent for repair, theres a few prob wth the bike.Already change my coolant pump and timing belt and all the rubber hose.....now my temperature is always pointing at the white indicator next t o the red indicator......is this normal for ST1100?.....theres no coolant leaks now,but for the past two days i notice my radiator and reservoir is empty despite toping it up.......Mechanic says that,my radiator cap need to be change as it is not tight enough and cause the coolant to flow out during riding.......Is this true?

YOur thermostat and the radiator cap are also and important part of the st1100 cooling system. If the radiator cap is faulty just have it replaced. If it is not tight enough you can tighten it but i thnk the issue is nt the cap not tighten. Normal coolant temp should no more than half the mark. ITs not advisable to ride with an overheated engine.

Some references if you do a search on this thread...

Coolant lost r cause by several reasons;

- choked cooling system.

- ageing hoses(lost of pressure due to cracks or etc.... ).

- corroded joints.

- faulty hose clips.

- faulty coolant pump or radiator.

- faulty thermostat.

I would also suggest that :

1. Possibly the radiator cap is no longer functioning well. I doesnt cost much to replace just the cap alone about $15. Pressure 1:1 .

2. The temperature fan should cut in when its hot.

3. you check your coolant hoses for crack or ageing. If one becomes brittle, the rest will follow suit. Its best to replace all at one go.

tks bro, i will monitor for the next few days. i was told that bt021 will wear faster as the compound is softer. thus, i went for the former, although the diff is only $15.

hi there, i has a similar problem until i found out that my hose leaked. I had it changed and problem solved. may i suggest that you bring it to Gopa to have it looked at.

Bt021 has the common wear at the front tyre.

Questions from a newbie:

1. Why tire pressures do you all recommend? (60kg, with 45kg pillion)

2. Which shops for servicing and maintenance do all recommend for our ST? (Looi's? Gopa?)

3. How long before should I change my plugs, EO, Oil Filter, Shaft Oil etc.? What else do I need to take note? Coolant? Air filter?

Please pardon my questions, totally new to a shaft-driven bike, a newbie to the ST. Appreciate your replies. Thank you guys so much!

Thanks so much for the response! That certainly helped!

EO change every 5000km ah? i used to change only around 7000km for my Super 4 Spec 1, used Fully Syn OWS. And i changed my Oil filter only after 2 EO change. Is that still ok?

Also, do you all DIY changing of EO & plugs or such? Is the gold colour castrol EO sold at Ah Boy recommended? I remember it used to cost only $8 a couple of years back.

And how often do you guys change your plugs?

I thought the KNN filter can last much longer? It's built to last the life-span of the bike right? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you guys for enlightening me. :cheeky:
