Is it in the manual and servicing schedule that the shaft and attachments are regularly checked ? what is the mileage on your bike ?

wow the incidents both of u faced is scary:( - where is a good place to do checking for shaft bearings and stuff like that ? any recommendations? am going for the iron butt ride in july /aug and would like a perfect healthy bill on bike b4 doing it.

nway guys...i need some advice...

when I was my back from Cameron last Labour Day...on NSE...i accelerate the bike until 160kmph...but the problem is I cannot maintain the speed at 160kmph...the bike jerked and suddenly the engine shut off...

i try again to speed up till 210kmph...it can climb to the speed with no prob...but still the bike cant cruise@maintain the speed at 160 above...it only can maintain at 150kmph n below...

whats the prob ya..? i changed my spark plugs, EO, air filter, oil filter n coolant...what is happerning to my bike..?

is it got sumting to do with the carbs? fuel filter or even worst the altenator@coil..?

Maybe got to do with oxygen sensors.

PCIII on your bike ? cool, From wat i read there isnt a compatible Power Commander for STX,Where di u get it from ?

You are right about the PC III. Both the PC III and V do not have pre-settings for the STX. I think this is because Honda did a good job in tuning the ECU to be as lean and efficient as possible on the STX.

But if you choose to migrate to a PC, what is needed is one model that allows a direct plug-n-play (so no need for wire slicing) and it will be manually tuned to a international standard unless you have request for a more agressive tune-up.

1 workshop gave a quote on PC V, but I chose to go with a PC III with a current budget. The change to PC III wasnt planned but as my oxygen sensors started to give problems, so the introduction of PC III eradicates the need to replace future malfunctioning oxygen sensors.

I presume the workshop will check every 40k on the shaft and bearings ? What was your mileage when your bike was on fire ? It will give some indicator that users need to pay more attention and insist on a thorough check over those service intervals : )

hi STX Bros

There is a group buy in the US for the above, and they are now negotiating for the terms - ie 20% off retail of US$79.95

Details of the product is on appended website:

I am not organising the group buy but if you are keen to get it, I can pm you the details for your personal arrangement.

Thanks for sharing. Just ordered the fairing deflector from http://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/home/

cost is £115. Not quite interested in the mirror deflector but someone in the review seems to suggest they both faring and mirror deflector needs to be in place together - true?? anyone can share on this?

On this uk site, they also got the Honda U-lock that will fit perfectly below the seat, £70. Looks good. Wonder if Chong Aik sells this.

Contacted Ivan - the UK website and was quoted abt £87 including shipping. So am going for it as well

Bro im only interested with the mirror side which it located at the mirror cover only do u wana share....:thumb::cheers:

One of my mod was to have a rear view cam installed with an LCD panel up on the dash or bar handle area to view the rear of my bike. Currently the mirror set up is not idea for the STX.

But look at this helmet that has a build-in periscope style rear view mirror : )

sori bro, i ordered the fairing deflector alone. The mirror deflector is a separate item to be ordered separately. Didn't want to get the mirror deflector as i have fixed the blind spot mirror on top of the stock mirror. The blind spot mirror works wonders for me, i rely on it totally and almost do not use the stock mirror when riding.

Well done... got mine deflectors from partspitstop.com as they were clearing some stocks at a slightly better price. For david silver, they are reliable. With the pound slightly down, it makes a good cost purchase as well. The mirror and side deflectors are separate parts and do not need to go together. Got a friends STX with only the wind deflector installed.

Once it is in, can share your installation works. I have not installed mine as yet

Hoping to receiving the deflector soon as well. It's been dispatch, so says the email.

Besides the 3M tape, i'll get a suitable sealant to close the gap so that it won't fly off at high speed. The idea is to prevent the deflector from catching too much wind at the gap which will stress out the 3M tape. Wanna meet up and brainstorm on the best way to secure the deflector firmly, when i get it that is?

sure... drop me a pm. I have them with me for the past month already. Waiting for a good day when it does not rain and having it cleaned for installation ...:dozed:

We can get some pics up of the works and share the adventure of getting it done up "professionally"

There are 2 oxygen sensors, each towards the exhuast system if I am not mistaken. When it malfunction, i will get very low rpm and lost of power.

Every Wednesday, LC Foodcourt, along Katong Rd, at about 2100 hrs, STOC will be meeting down there for coffee. You can learn more from them about the ST11 or ST13.
