Hi guys ..

Went to Ah Chong last Wed morning.. he had a look n told me to come back in the afternoon. He changed the gear oil gasket n the leak was gone. Then went for ride Sing-Kemaman-Genting-Port Dickson-Melaka HRC-Sing, n thankfully leak was not there at all.

As for the CDI .. It is still oozing.. may have to look for spare CDI in case of emergency .. the ST was cool throughout

As for the plastered crack, which is on the top end of the engine - on the rear brake lever side, hope it stays cool for the longest time ..

I'm not sure if FJT still have stock but no harm calling them to ask.

Broke mine as well few years ago(~5-6yrs) when bike dropped on it's side at open air parking lot when a lorry reverse hit and run.

Cost about $105 for the mirror set, not including the cover and amber signal lens.

If stock not avail, can ask them to order for you...

Hi guys I just got a 1996 ST11.

Everything seems ok except sometimes I get some backfire.

When the engine is under load, it runs fine. However, occasionally, when I downshift or am going down hill and geared down, I'll get some backfire and it's really loud.

Thats when the choke is off.

So what I did was to run in full choke and the issue seems rectified.

I even tried running at half choke but it doesnt do the trick.

Any comments fr seniors on this? Thanks.

spark plugs, air filter, coolant, engine oil & oil filter, OWS flush, front forks, front wheel bearing, brake pads, brake fluid, alarm, carb washed, steering cone, rear brake light, fuel filter, jets, front tyre, dyna carb tuning, rear tyre, rear tyre inner tubing, rear wheel bearing, fuel tubing, alternator, rectifier, battery, valve clearance/top overhaul, chain & sprocket.

If yours is an US model, it is your EVAP system diagram inside torn, resulting leaking emission to caused backfired bupping.

To solve it you need to seal up the secondary exhaust tubes, they are located just before the main exhausts outside under the cam cover.

What I have done for my old US model was with few pieces of aluminium cuttings 4pieces to cover each.

Each secondary exhaust tubbing are chrome in color, gently loosen the bolt and slide in each aluminum cutlet to seal the hole, be careful not to over tighten the bolt else it'll snap.

Thanks Simon.

Will go look into that. You meant aluminium foil right?

Anyway 1 other symptom is a hissing sound at random times whenever engine runs under load, regardless accelerating or decelerating.

At first i thought the backfire was due to lean mixture caused by carb, but now with the hissing sounds, it does seem that the leaking pipe is the issue.

no, aluminium cutlet about 1mm thickness should be able to cover the hole when u bolt it in.

the hizzling sound u need to carefully listen it from which spot.

Hi Guys, my 97 Pan Euro ST11 due for inspection in March...gonna need fresh tyres...any recommendation of tyre choice and prices for them? seems like the 18" front tyres are not common anymore. Had very little mileage on the ST11 due to new born, hopefully can get good deal tyres to last me til COE expire in 2017. Sell away now seems no value for ST11 sadly but hard pain to sell off too as still like riding the bike and its reliabilty
