haha.. great minds think alike... really want to do the side headers.. the best is 2-1 header right from the block, the single header all the way till the end can, makes positioning a lot easier, but need to get the correct measurement, if not going to get ur leg fried everytime u ride the bike...
but sengkwang going to cost a bomb... i shall keep searching...

I was goin thru some ATOC photos...some of the mods on the AT are awesome..some are just crap.but anyways,somehow,want to try again the TDM on dirt minus the sidecases...my givi rack is still no sale...how to mod the high mount exhaust...tsk...i wanted to do a proper ones at SengKwang...should i sell my SM wheels to do this project?arrghh...mind bogging this mods...so much ideas,salary like peanuts.

hahaha... i think peanuts are bigger than my salary... anyway i still have my crappy WP shorty fork from my KTM, wondering if i can slap it on the TDM... if only everything can be plug ang play, wont it be easy....

shorty fork will be too short dah for the TDM...

besides,you must have the whole steering stem,both top bottom clamps...maybe it will look like this if you have the whole front end..i might strike a deal on a pair of DR650Djebel fork with front wheel,and caliper...but no brake pump and hose...this could do the trick.the '93 model DR650 have longer and stiffer fork.

and then,comes the front wheel...if you have plan to use back the stock TDM front wheel,you need to check for your wheel axle issit same diameter?then you only have 1 caliper to fit to the wp fork,so how?a new single brake hose?then,definately the stock wp springs won't be able to cater the weight of the TDM as it was from a superlight dirtbike...

So how?still...it wil cost more than just finding a whole fork of an AT and calipers and brakepump and hose.

As what i have told you,i am in a bad situation where the missus got the wedding thing and i could only depart late sat night.which is...i think quite bad if i were to travel up to Ipoh,then go via trunk road to cameron...which the route would be very alien to me.

eh...you seriously want to mod the front end issit?we could try source out the barangs....i thought wen i have the cash for this project,if it ever gonna happen,i will go down to fastrax.they few bikes that is already scrapped...i saw aprilia pegaso,domi,etc...so we could salvage some parts from there.

maybe i can try ask jeffry mah motorparts..he ever scrapped a KLE400.so maybe the whole front end plus wheel and caliper there.

and...if you die die want to try your shorty,now at slack got someone selling a pair of ktm exc4 front and back wheelset for $100.

oh...i just gave up the deal on the dr650 fork and wheel.initially the last time he wanted to sell the whole front end plus clamps and stem for $150.

Suddenly today he sms said $300 for the fork,wheel,caliper,and rotor...kns...i tot not complete should be even cheaper than $150...then he said that set sold...lol...how many set he have i also dunno...

Gilbert...i think still the best bet to be humble on our TDM is doing this...

this bike is owned by Yamaha Australia and has been used as a test bike by a few magazines most recently by Trail Bike Adventure Magazine for it's "Longest Day Ride" where Tom left the East Coast (Coff Harbour) i think and headed to Cameron Corner, They covered 1,600km between sun up and stopped 50 k into South Australia just before sunset! I have spoken with Tom and he told me he cleaned the airfilter the next morning snd rode back the 1,600k back to the east coast by sunset. I have spoken to the person at Yamaha Australia who was behind this and they are looking at a stage 3 version which would have heavier fork springs and a pipe guard/ bashplate. There is a possibility they will offer this kit for sale eventually.

just a tyre change,and stiffer fork springs and rear shock and a proper header bashplate would be the cheapest alternative...however,takenote...the fork springs plus labour and oil already cost $250.So if i could source below $200,a whole front end of a convectional fork which can zip through the original TDM clamp,this would cost nothing more than your effort in removing and installing those stuffs..

by doing this,if say you want to convert back the front end,it's just plug and play...

wow....it's gonna be a fun project...

Things i need to find.

1.A whole front end of a scrap big bore thumper eg. DR650,Domi,AT,KLE,anythg that weights around 170kg would do the trick.The stuff i need,a pair of fork that has the same diameter with the TDM fork,the whole brakehose,caliper,brakereservoir,and the whole front wheel plus the spindle...

2.Sidestand.This is easy to find.Taller dirtbike sidestand.

If i can get all this around $200below,which i think possible,then i will do the mod...

It's a plug and play which you can still use back your original TDM fork and wheel.

The mods.

1.remove the whole fork,wheel,brake pump and caliper off the TDM.

2.Install the other fork plus wheelset and brakeset

3.Mod the dirtbike sidestand.

4.Fabricate the rear shock dog bone linkage shorter.

Done!!

But with this mod...i think we better not try doing high speed on the highways.It's best to reverse the mod if we want to do the highways.

no...i dont back out...it's just that i want you to go ahead 1st...i will be there on Sunday early morning around 7am....becoz i think after fetching the missus on Sat late evening,let her sleep for 3hrs..then i would head for GP at around 1-2am...from there,i start my journey...

Tmr is the death anniversary of my close buddy, he too love bike like me, hv a lovely gfâ€¦ butâ€¦â€¦â€¦..

After his death only than I realized, money in fact in not the â€˜cureâ€™ for all issue, is the time u hv spend with those ppls close to u tat matter. That is why even when im tight dw with works, family & off cos â€˜my sonâ€™, I would make effort to meet u guys whenever there is a Kopi sessionâ€¦â€¦

hihi, just my 2c worth. there are many options for accommodation at brichang, and at much cheaper rates. the plus point, i feel, is being in a small town where u can stroll around for makan. the restaurants do serve a wider variety of food. the road up back to equatorial is very dark, and misty at night, if you do go down to town for dinner when staying there.

on weekends, there is also a pasar malam. erm, when i was there few years ago, but i think it's a tradition.

oh, do visit the butterfly farm! they have a cool collection of weird looking insects.
