Tis type of thingy have to buy when u intend to change the brake pads.. lan lan lah.. luckily cheap...

 

 

the stange thing...this thing only happen on my yamaha TDM...but like you said...luckily cheap and very easy to DIY...

Ok, Since no one else suggest, we can meet Roadhouse (now called "Flying Hog") from 8:30pm Thursday. They having opening special Thursday, Friday, Saturday where everything half price (except alcohol) and 1 for 1 beer (you know who you are who want this! ).

Address is 32/33 Duxton Road, Tanjong Pagar. Can park bike on pavement across the road from shop. Have to mount from the corner though since it's elevated.

It's not "coffee shop" though, so if anyone want that kind of makan/kopi then have to suggest a place.

btw guys...check your rear caliper screws if you have the time...or easy to find out if it's really having problem,just spin your rear wheel while you're on mainstand...if it's kinda stiff,it could be the caliper screws problem...

 

They have this 2 long screws...mind toast again...1 of them corroded...if only can get stainless steel material...that thing cost 3bux each...guess i need to buy it again....

 

Got the same problem. On mainstand, wheel kinda stiff to turn. Went small Mah, changed brake pads and service the caliper. Indeed the 2 screws were badly corroded.

oh...i just bought the screws...it turn out...$7 each....my bad....i thought i bought it $3 each the last time..

 

anyways...i went to the regular JB shop and replace all 6 of the rear rotor screws to a stainless steel ones...RM12 all 6....

 

I think one of the flaw of the yamaha is the caliper screws....i've never encounter this problems of all the bikes i've owned...

Lucky it's cheap and easy to DIY...but it's best to do it,with proper tools so as not to get the screws rounded...

You have to remove the right side muffler,then,use a proper size 12 T-wrench....those normal socket spanners will spoilt the screw thread...well,based on my experience on it though...

 

And another pointer...

Those using AT handlebar....take note...Try give a twist on your trottle...if you feel that the return twist abit stiff or very slow,it's time you remove the trottle tube and take a look at the handlebar...you will notice that the same corrosion just like the caliper screws...this would be easy fix...use a sandpaper and sand off the corroded part...clean it with wd-40...then fix back the trottle tube and done...

This could due to water from rain and bikewash...

I thought i am the only person facing this sometime back becoz i thought must be the dirt riding effect...but somehow,Hafiz who has a newer TDM,got this problem also...same thing...he notice the corrosion on the right side of the handlebar...

my renthal handlebars are still going smooth on throttle, will check the brake caliper screw after bike wash.. now all dirty from trip i went with wify last weekend..

oh, have not collect rear brake disc from gilbert yet.

 

last weekend, 1200km, 3D2N, cameron highland.. TDM's comfortable cruising at 160kmh with 2up, 3 box full, can pull 170+ easily while overtaking.. didnt manage to try after that as wify is knocking my helmet alrdy.

 

only complaint is front knobby tyre caused handle bar vibrations.. may be balancing not done properly? and i dont have heavy balencers neither..

 

first leg, managed to utilize full tank range and stop for petrol only at Dengkil (after seremban) at 320km.. same on return leg, stop once at seremban, then again at jb.

oh, i've changed Vstorm OEM handguards to barkbuster storm handguards.

 

main reason is Vstorm guards broke off when i dropped my bike and barbuster has aluminum frame support (same as acerbis) and hope it holds well.

 

but for wind and rain protection, Vstorm guards provide better coverage.

wow...your FC is impressive...you cruise at 160km/hr,and you can go up to 320km....Me and Boon cruise around that speed,we are struggling to go to 260km......

Installed the new wave brake disc.. Braking seems to be better.. Had the chance to dismantle the entire brake caliper and do a self-service.. Piston of the brake caliper still looks good.. Jus need to check the piston seals, requires replacing after years of usage. Wasn’t able to take pic as hand was oily with brake fluid.
