Hi all,

Jus got a 2002 Model.

I have been reading the posting here since I got my bike. Finally I know that I'm not the problem when I can't put the bike on main stand. It has HP main stand.

Still there are so many pages left. Read until double vision.

I have 2 questions to ask the senior here.

1st- I discovered the fork oil is leaking. Do I jus change the fork seal?

2nd- I find that the steering is very heavy. Is it the steering cone problem?

Regards.

Welcome.... Finally you laid your hands on a TDM. Anyway.....You gotten 3TripleFour's yellow TDM?

It takes a little practice to mount the bike on main stand. Basically, its technique and nothing wrong with the brand of stand, your bike, or even you. Main thing is NOT to lift the bike upwards. You need to land the mainstand with both stands firmly on the ground, with your right hand underneath the rear seat (or for me sometimes I just hold the handrail and the ball of your right foot on the mainstand lever, shift your bodyweight while straightening your right foot TOWARDS THE REAR of the bike. This way, the entire weight of the bike does not be required to be lifted upwards, but rather the mainstand acts like a pivot to swing the bike rearwards and mounted.

Fork oil leaking might only require replacing the fork seal but need to check if there sufficient oil inside. Just get a mechanic to check. It's a normal check and shouldnt be costly.

My steering is too light for my liking even after I tightened the steering cone. It might be the cone but it might be the tyre pressue. Also check if any of the cables are in the way.

Welcome to the TDM family !!! Finally some new blood in the flow...

Same goes to many of us having difficulties of putting this monster on mainstand... Apart from the techniques, most important is the design of the mainstand itself...

Recently I've fix that problem by making some rocker look-a-like and weld onto the stand, which makes it easier to mount... Now effortless...
