The left panel is together with the painted part..

Besides the 4 screws at the panel, you need to remove the 2 sliver mushroom head screws on the painted Yamaha logo-ed part.. Then under the headlight there's 2 (if i rem correctly) plastic push pins..

I'll remove the 2 plastic push pins first.. Then the rest..

What you wanna do there?

1. just curious if I am able to remove the panel without removing the crash bar.

2. there is this fluttering sound at low rpm, been looking for loose items on the instrumnet panel, headlight, couldn't find anything.

Just wondering if its from the radiator fan or in the panel.

Cheers

I have tried the right-panel, no problem.

So trying the left.

most crashbars should allow panel removal without dismantling..

i'm using H&B crashbars, panels can be removed w/o removing crashbars..

Is it coming from the engine? This bike engine is louder than most.

check the triangle panel between the headlight and the windshield. it is held by 3 fastener.. it could be that..

Yup, i had this part went loose on my last trip. Had to cable-tied it down...

Ya that triangle piece damn loose.

I think its only 'pinned' at the middle.

Will take another look how to 'secure' it.

if recall correct it "hold" by 3 plastic pin lock type, 1 middle & 1 each side. due to high vib...the "thing" will be loose.

maybe replace with proper steel bolt and nutz?

Yah, 3 pieces of plastic pin lock. But can't be replaced by proper steel bolt, cos it's empty underneath.

I might try to replace it with windscreen rubber nut if it loosen up again. But when the next time my mechanic needs to remove it, he sure scold me one. :cheeky:

Got the K&N air filter installed.

My left panel not able to removed without the crash bar removed first......

Not enough room.

I think I found the source of the fluttering sound.

Both the main bolts for the crash bar were loose!!!

Damn.....

Not sure if they loosened by itself or the workshops did not tightened enough.

Cheers

Anyone has any ideas what the codes behind the model number means?
