Its really a whinning sound when you open the throttle, disappeared when closed.

I have gone thru the International Super Tenere Forum and quite a number noticed this as well and most suspecting its the air intake thingy.

As most of them noticed this in 5th gear onwards at highway speed.

Any other bros noticed this??

Cheers

Below is an excerp from a US review on Super Tenere, which mentioned of whining sound.

Not sure if it is talking the same thing what I am hearing.

"A four-position clutch lever requires a moderately firm pull to actuate the burly clutch pack consisting of 9 friction plates. Shift action is pleasingly light and positive, and power is transferred to the rear wheel via a shaft to a hypoid gear-set on the rear wheel. The stronger hypoid design allows smaller gears than a spiral-bevel arrangement, which Yamaha says is 10% tidier. However, there is a price to be paid for the hypoid arrangement – gear whine, which is especially noticeable around 60 mph."

i see.. think my hearing not too good. Too much ear phones le. But now u mention it, I do recall hearing it before.

But base on the review, I guess it's nothing faulty, which is good for me. :)

btw, today tried to come down from road side kerb, hit my skid plate quite hard. *heart pain*

after installing the h&b skid plate, the ground clearance got reduced quite a bit...

On SG road you the sound is not so obvious, but on NSH at night it can be really loud.....

How much you paid for the skid plate?

motoradgarage.com.au has a rising link. Claim to raise the bike 25mm higher on the rear. More ground clearance. Other than that, it also quickens the steering.

Drawback is, it's expensive. And the extra height might be problem for us, the vertically challenged.

Dont worry bat the gear whine....it protected by a 200ML gear oil...just change it while EO change.

Louder exhaust will cover the noise.lol

Skip plate only serve 1 purpose.....that's to Kanna all the crip from the road and protect the engine.

So I not heart pain on skip plate if damage but will heart pain if engine is damage.haha

I'm not suprised about the price. u have to check out USA prices for OEM yamaha accessories.

Don't bang ur head when u see the prices. I give u an example,

Side wind deflectors cost $69.99USD to $79.99USD Most will ship to Singapore using USPS Priority at about $30USD++.

Add them together, it will cost slightly over $100USD. After currency exchanged, it is still cheaper than what HL is selling here at $280 before GST

This I believe is the OEM skidplate. Not so recommended as it's mounted directly on the engine itself. Get those aftermarket ones bro. Much more stronger and has better mounting options.

I am impressed by the Hepco Becker one. One big and thick plate. The plate underneath covers almost the whole of the engine below.

Even covers the exhaust lamda sensors unlike the SW Motech one. Only drawback is the price. But when the mechanic was installing it on my bike, I think I made the right choice.
