It depends on ones need and feature.

Chain drive is out for me if I have a choice.

And Boxer is the original GS feature, not para twin engine.

So it either the real boxer GS stuff or it the alternative choice from Yamaha S10,tiger 1200.lolx

The S10 is perhaps the biggest I'll go. Tiger looks good but too niche and worried about the durability.

Agree that a true GS is a boxer. But I prefer something more 'agile' in the streets of our beloved Sillypore. Hence if I'm heading towards the Beemer badge... The alternative i.e. the F800GS will probably be a wiser choice.

Super Tenere Xt1200Z

day 1 got the bike .... when ridding it ... feel real light .. easy to handle

when push .. if you are good at balancing the bike .. pushing on straight ground

should not be a problem ... as the bike dun really feel 261Kg heavy

(1000km)

Stage 1 Run-In ... wen malaysia .. 1st perling .. than follow by Pasir Gudang road

and Rd 92 all the way to Pengarang ... stop and relax and than go again ..

from pengarang toward rd 90 all the way follow by J173 till RD 3 ...

than turn left into RD 50 till kahang ... and than to Kluang

have a bite of the beef noddles ... and we set of from kluang using

J25 , J26 , Rd 1 and exit sedenak to the NSHW and all the way back to GP

total distance cover abt 530km ... speed at max 120km/hr and 4000RPM

bike handle well in trunk rd ... very nimble .. and very good handling

corner only require little skid and effort ... cant really go into trying out

wat the bike can do due to stage 1 run-in ... cornering in 5th or 6th gears

but it still handle very well .. once clear the bend throttle up and the bike

just pull away from anything like 80km/hr .. it just go ... like it is in the lower gear

switch to Mode-S .. and the FUN have just begin ... bike totally feel alive

respond is fast and powerful .... you can do 160km/hr in trunk road anytime

(600km)

Stage 2 Run-in

wen malacca for 3NCR ... once on the highway ... throttle the RPM to

4500 in Mode-S ... the bike pull real hard ... you can feel the bike is

pulling away from you holding it tight .... and reading 150km/hr in 14500RPPM

FC so far ... not very good ... doing something like 15KM / L or some time less

even in Mode-T ... wonder the exhaust pipe with the silencer remove make any diff

bike feel holding to the ground at 150km/hr and very stable ... Mode-S will have a much

much better feeling if you like to ride at 6th gear .. you can pull it from 120km/hr to

15okm/hr in no time .. dun even need to down shift ... Mode-T is oso good but the feel

is not as strong as the other ...ridding mostly on highway .. i traveling at 150km/hr + -

(below 5000RPM) ... everything is nice ... but the wind protection .. have a additional

wind shield install .. it did reduce lots of noise in the helmet ... but the turbulence the the wind shield

will cause the helmet shake ... not really shake but give you a Blur vision ... worst if

you ride behind some others vehicle ... the turbulence is even more worst the blur blur

vision is making you dizzy .. wonder how will it feel if go even faster ...

vibration... you can feel the vibration on the handle bar and the foot rest

ppl like me tat have no more feeling should be ok with it but those not really

rode it hard and more .. will for sure feel un-comfort with it ... i have a throttle locker

mount on the bike and it do help to relax your hand time to time if really long distance ride

now total distance cover is abt 1550km ... full run-in will be complete soon ...

wat other thing abt this bike ... well wait till i wen for another ride ....

tis is my personal feeling abt the bike .... and my personal point of view

Drain out the shaft out now.. Then see for yourself if it needs to be changed or not??

Service Manual wrote, to change out at 1000km then every 20,000km..

How can first 3 servicing dun change???

Gear oil is cheap.. I change them every time I change EO at 5000km..

shaft oil is confirm change at HL 1st svc. then next is 10k km svc(3rd svc).

anyway, each shaft oil change is 200ml...buy 1 bottle can change 5x. no point save the shaft oil and have weared shaft gear.:cheeky:

went up there with richard & his friends during the july hatyai bike week period.

we stay at century pine resort.Big rooms,3min walk to starbuck coffee. most important is the front open air carpark is highly visible to the hotel rooms view and main lobby and it OFF the main road.so there is less traffic noise and also ünwanted "bikers". breakfast cafe has the same carpark facing so can view the bike as well.

using the new route up & old route down is the best for S10.....however we did the other way round due to a need to escort a fellow biker which is heading home instead of joining us up to cameron.

hope it helps.

do i have to tip anyone there to look after the bike?

if yes then who shld i tip and how much will be acceptable?

no tip needed....if u park right infront of the hotel main lobby carpark facing and the bike is GONE...the hotel reputation can throw away liao.:thumb:
