Don't waste your time on ES, its a failed product by sgx.

 

SIMSCI be prepared to have at least $60,000 to buy 1 contract. A cheaper alternative would be to buy SIMSCI warrants, it tracks the underlying SIMSCI index and is cheaper upfront.

 

We can always trade ES on CME. The one on sgx is a joke as you said. If they really want to attract vol from cme, what better way to do it than to reduce margin like they did for nifty. No currency adv for ES unlike sgx being able to offer usd for nifty, instead of nse's rupee.

 

Woah 60k overnight margin.. I dare not think of it sia.. futures better close out intraday.

 

I'm still a newb thou.. learning to trade trendlines, trend channel overshoots, reversals, and trade trapped traders.

Im back in Spore!! What a crazy market it has been, as expected... market is still bloody weak and getting f in the a33 by the bears. No clear channel of rebounds in sight yet although US data offer a sign of hope but it remains to be seen if its a one-off thing. In general, as long as the euro debt crisis looms, market struggle to find a reason for a rally. Good luck everyone and keep your questions coming but stay out of the market for the time being unless you are an agressive/intraday trader.

Welcome.. HSI warrants still a better alternative to hedging as the STI is a headless chicken that tracks the HSI index. HSI is more liquid with better spreads. Good luck!! You mentioned "trade trapped traders', you must have quite an experience in the stock market to be able to know that method. But that method is one of the best to ultilised on a bearish market where fear is everywhere. =D

investors have lost confidence because whatever that they had, they would have at least lost 1/3 of it if they have hold it till now except for defensive counters.

 

Market volume is super low and the only people in the market are:

1) Shortist

2) Warrant traders

3) Intraday traders

 

Investors are bascially on the sidelines if not already wiped out.
