what about an alarm system that triggers off the loud alarm from the bike itself. the device itself could be hidden somewhere within the inside of the bike. of course the owner will also be inform..like the normal car alarm ah..

or, just a thought, a surge of high voltage across the metal parts of the bike. one touch, can burn. heh. might be too ambitious ah..

Not sure what you meant here..an alarm of the bike is of course already hidden. When it goes off..the siren or random loud ear piercing beeps goes off at say may be 125db..that's very loud. Unless what you meant is a remote transmission to alarm you when you are elsewhere out of site. If this is the case..it only brings up the cost of the unit...beside what at the crime scene already met its need..fightening them off.

Yes..can be done just like as if your bike is a stunt gun..but unlikely not approved even though it don't kill at 2500 Kilo Volts. Taser and stunt gun are banded here.

Anyway..I'm now in the process of making a what I call a activity triggered alarm under a $100 budget..(successful or not..dunno but hope so). If someone meddles with your back suspension, turn your handle, dismantling brake calipers or straightening your bike from side stand, the alarm goes off at a set period of time. More sensors can be added..like even to the meter, bike seat..etc..and of course they are not visual to the eye or for the least being seen. Another important thing is that defusing any supply of the bike would noyt kill the alarm. Should at least be useful for ppl with third party insurance without fire and theft policy. Be at least of some help when parking in Malaysia.

Thanks for those who has responded..amd wish me luck mannn :)

Disc lock is totally ineffective..three guys with a metal pipe can carry your bike on a pick-up truck in less then 6 secs if your alarm is not trigger by their action.

Actually what I meant here is the slightest in motion that triggers the alarm. Even if you have disc lock...its ineffective as they be carrying your bike away or taking their time to dismantle your back suspension etc. I'm talking about even having sensor at the suspension that would trigger the alarm or even the bike is being hoist up. Simply put..triggered by acticvities on your bike like even turning the handle bar straight or your bike on side stand to straight position.

Hmmmm...not sure if you guys know exactly what I'm asking so far :(

Ermmm... how about bike alarm that include motion detector? These alarm quite common in the market. And the sensitiveness is very strong, simple touch on the bike will trigger the alarm liao.

Oh yes..that's right. I have rule out motion detector and vibration sensor (too sensitive..rain splattering and thunder oso trigger the alarm..that's not good). What I'm looking at somthing like say..if someone start to loosen your back suspension and start to yank it..this would trigger the alarm..may be not alarm but a lot audio synthesize voice saying "Hoi!..want to mati_arh!..Choo_li ayam iszit!.Police!_police!"...LOL!..anyway, I'm serious about the first part. The other good thing would be when the thieft starts to straighten the bike from side stand up or just about when the bike moves...but expect them to Ka_lan_Ka_Boke and drop the bike lah...LOL!

LOL!...ok..if it ever works. The hardest part is that it should look totally out of sight and identifying the parts the thieft would likely go for beside the whole bike. Sensor placement has to be real small and cable running has to be 'invisible'.

Probably installation (easy like ABC) would be by each individual so that no one know who got what and where placed.

oh we can create a alarm tag (jus like those pasted on the product but will be slightly bigger but 5time smaller den present alarm system ).

place it in the tyre since ours is air tubeless .. so once ur wheel is roll, the tag (active tag) will send a signal to your alarm handheld devices to info u .. the tag itself will have a battery which can last you abt 5 to 8yrs. so when u wan to ride, u can disable the alarm by switchin off ur remote devices so u won't receive the signal to disture ur ride..

n how does this alarm prevent ur bike from stolen.. when the theif rides or roll ur bike, the alarm will send a signal wave to u (Radio frequency) .. for them to remove this alarm in the shortest possible time is to cut the rubber of the tyre n remove it and tis alarm u dun hav to worry tt the theif will by pass the alarm by disable the electrical or watever concern with the electrical wires.

i m tokin a part of the design of the alarm system which i tink is do able =p ..

Radio frequency is a 'problem'..have to apply license with S'pore telecom..it won't be a backyard project anymore. Anyway..I find that alarm with remote notification is useless..when you are 10 storey high away or whatever..you may know your bike alarm is trigger..but when you are away..you are away and be too late to get to the since if its a "cash and carry" theft..LOL!

No lah...if I'm going that far...might as well go commercialised and make a GPS tracking theft alarm system..even with your bike taken away..you know where your parts are..LOL!

Ah Pek, I remember seeing 1 alarm system which uses GSM technology. You can install those prepaid (Hi-Card) SIM card and it even has its own rechargeable power supply. During intrusion and even if the bike's battery is disconnected, it will still be able to dial to your designated phone number and the owner will know about the impending theft. The sensor utilized can be tilt, shock, motion or a combination of any of the above to trigger the dial up.

I managed to download the file, but it is not the complete version. I have the original in russian but I have to use the online translator to check the words. The translated version only cover the basic information + the engine.

Oh yes...nice to have. I into something more sorta "less is more" under a hundred dollars thingy.

Plan to have made as if there is nothing on the bike once installed..and yet effective in scaring theft away..smallest possible too..and may be an led to remind you the alarm is on. Can call it "activities alarm"...LOL!

Of course more can be done like remote on/of etc..but guess that's 'luxury' and busrting the cost of budget.

haha ah pek i noe liao tie a big dog to the bike =p .. actually security alarm like immobilizer n watever all can be easily by pass so if wan to prevent, the best method is not use of much technology like use chain n tie our bike up like bicycle liddat .. i believe it deter better den alarm system which can be easily by pass.. ah pek we can do like a stand at the rear wheel which can be lock .. in order to ride the bike u need to unlock > bring up the stand (the stand will hav a bigger suface area on the ground) > start riding .. tis can prevent pple from riding or rolling ur bike .. but appearance wise with tis item won't b nice .. i duno base on my own imagination ..

Something for diy enthusiast to enjoy. http://hondacb400.myfreeforum.org/Japanese_Grey_imports_400cc_180KMPH_RESTRICTOR_about5.html

Regarding the alarm, alarm is there to deter. There is no way an alarm can prevent such things from happening.

One good idea is to implement what some countries are doing. Install ground hooks for bikers to chain down their bikes. Coupled with alarm, it should pretty much reduce bike thefts to a minimal.

Ah Pek's alarm will come in useful in these situations. :goodluck: :goodluck:

Hi Brandon...thanks for all your hard tot suggestion. What Joesph said is very true..if only we habe anchorage stand for us to barred our bike too...especially in Malaysia. I would love to get a solid Kryptonite chain to it.

My concern is more on "carried away" theft. These days, they won't waste time on trying to ride your bike off and with HISS etc..its a trend nowadays that all stolen bikes are 99% 'cash and carry'. The other thing is dismantling and this is something I work like to work on too on parts that are likely to be taken.

Let me have it done first..hopefully and one of these days meet at TGS and see if you guys can 'steal' the whole bike or parts without triggering the alarm..as a deterrent.
