Not sure what type of cable you are referring to but if its the "RPM" meter..its an electrical cable. Disassemble your meter and and headlamp cover. Check the connectors to the rpm and that of the main hardness wiring do not have a loose connection or the clip connestors does not have water.

The worst thing that can happen is the connector electrical wiring copper wires are 'carbonised' or corroded..or at worst, your rpm meter circuit board may have intermittent problem (but unlikely).

Shake all the connectors inside the headlamp..you be surprise how much water are trapped in those click square connectors.

Good luck.

Thanks for info Ah Pek!

I had thought that the PRM 'cable' is like the speedo kind of cable. But I just opened it up before i saw this post and realised that everything is electrical. Will spend some time soon to 'clean up' all the connectors. hopefully the problem will go away.

Another thing is a ticking sound from the engine when i start it in the morning. But after it warmed up good enough, then no more ticking liao.. dun know if is normal or not. any thoughts?

Ticking sound...need not to worry about that if it does goes off. Occassionally it will come around. Just a 'temporary' out of spec clearance of the shim in the cam follower and the valve stem. However, someday if this persist and it gets louder and won't go away..its time to have a shim or two replace..not a cheap thing to do.

Hopefully it stays away for a long long time. anything i can do to prevent the ticking from getting louder?

Hello friends,

My VerS got this issue, while riding on the highway I realise when rpm reach close to 5, then bike suddenly loose power, have to twist the throttle to clear rpm from 5-6 then bike becomes ok,

When stationary I try revving to rpm 5 got this funny sound from the exhaust.

A weird trembly sound, but only when close to 4.7k to abt 5.5k rpm.

Anyone got face similar issue?

The sound started after I took out my endcan to polish :cheeky:

But I don't think polish the outside will cause the sound :(

Base on your description that there was nothing wrong initially...its a muffler (end can) "back compression" issue. Check your flange coupling securing bolts (should be 3 or so) from your end can to the back pipe..could be loose or badly coupled thus 'leak'. Plse be sure to hand tight all first before tightening one a bit at a time. Good luck.

The above is just my guess base on my "sense of common". Keep us posted.:sian:

Hi Ahpek,

thanks for your reply, I tried taking out the endcan and fixing it back. Still have the sound. There is a small screw on my endcan near the mouth. Could it be that? Is it the screw for the baffle or the silencer inside the can?

I remember fiddling with the screw :cheeky:

This might be a case of curiousity killed the cat

Im also curious on how you actually put or remove the baffle?

Not sure..you should know best what you broke when initially it was not.

Baffle or silencer..both are one and the same thing..just a method of speech and definition and functin are of the same..errr..unless, I missed something. Careful when you are installing it back. The screw is basically just to secure it I guess. I personally do not 'play' with end can stuff..but working on a GPR and Yoshi end can before..careful with the small scuring screw. Dur to space constraint when working on it..anyone can just drop the screw inside and pretty cumbersome to take it out.

Oh...and if the baffle is not secure properly..and if its 'shoot' off from your pipe..be prepare to pay for damages if it landed on someone car's bonnet.

I just took out the screw to spray WD40 and put in back :faint:

Think I better find a way to fix the problem :sian:

Before my pipe becomes a baffle launcher.. lol

what pipe are you using?

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

I'm using the stock VerS exhaust

Got 1 question my ver S when start, seems like exhaust quite loud even though its stock honda... When i engage gear 1, seems to move quite abruptly not smooth but subsequently move up the gears become smooth.

Issit b'coz the fuel nozzle set too high? Coz my FC now only 19km/litre on stock endcan

Can any1 enlighten? Thanks

hey ah pek... after all ur treatment and test ride the bike juz nw,damn FANTASTIC bro!!! POWER TO THE MAX!!! the response of the engine when i open throttle was AMAZING!! wen i rode the bike could easily hit redline frm juz 1st gear... but wen the bike died abruptly juz nw,haiz u testing me aiyoh.... i forget to turn the fuel to ON... lolz... but the most important thing is that the bike is rideable again... not juz ridable, but 1000x better tahn i 1st bought it... really appreciate everything u've done for me bro.... may u be blessed always... it is costly, however for the performance to be THIS good,IT'S WORTH EVERY CENT!! UPZ N UPZ N UPZ FOR AH PEK's EO,X-1R n EPS!!!! RIDE SAFE MY FELLOW S4 RIDERS... any problem, look for this humble yet knowledgeable guy..... AH PEK... :thumb::thumb::bow::bow:

That is the sad thing of new owner of their 'new' 2nd/3rd/4th..etc..bike especially S4. Previous owner knows not what's coming and have their bike 'mod' like from sound to looks and so called performance..etc.. without a thought who the next buyer is..for sure, they would not sell to their true blood brothers or very close friends..but rather a sucker.

Your case sound like your "jetting" may not be standard and as for the sound, well...the previous owner/owners must be half deaf and stupid enough to 'mod' a stock pipe believing it can give them 'power'...LOL!

After helping out so many suckers..I hope current owner give a thought to what they do to their current ride or at least, make the bike safe and normal for the next owner.

Sor. Zihui7 for reading more than what you asked for but it best for new owner like yourself and many others to come who just gotten a 'new' S4 that been screwed around with. There's a always a BAD reason why a bike is sold and a sucker born every second.

Wah thanks ah pek! but u kinda of make me feel xian =X hmmm i forgot 2 mentioned i drive ard 100km to 110km average speed but i read somewhere it's actually when your engine is idle at traffic lights or stopping that eat petrol not when travelling. Thats y i'm guessing how come my idling sound is so loud... Resulting in 19km per litre... Haiz

But what can I do about it then? =X

You have to understand that its an old bike and fc at 19km is considered reasonably good liao...I'm doing the same for my bike but I'm the type that ride like I just stole a bike type.

No gaurantee but suggest you have another good stock end can that is not "tong" (I got lobang but must check) or mod in anyway. Use good eo and friction eliminator (that I have) and rebuild your engine thru liquid engineering to gain back compression..this should save you some fc. But plse note that fc is a very subjective issue as too many factors are involve like from type of tyres..its pressure, load weight, chain slack...blah.x3!..the list goes on.
