ah pek,

update on my fuel pet c0ck - i removed the tank - inspected the pet c0ck and saw the leak coming from the nut connecting the c0ck to the tank....i drained the fuel and removed the c0ck... cleaned the c0ck and placed silicon sealant between the c0ck nut and the thread....let it cure overnight and tried just now, no leaks...i do not know how long the seal will hold for now...

i will try the suggestion of a friend to place o-ring next time on the nut and silicon tape on the thread....will update for developments by then.

silicon sealant from what I know will last up to 3 weeks if you're not riding that often. If you ride always, the heat from the whether and your engine will make the lifespan will shorten...

u just have to bring your bike to the bike shop and they do the necessary to pass your bike's inspection.

Dont have to bring your stock items. Usually riders would send down to shop if there far too many mods that are not really legal. wahahaha.

beside if you fix your stock headlight and back to the current one, might cost a few bucks? might as well send to shop and add a few bucks, just my view.

very true wat u said.. but today i went to bike shop.. they oso say vicom only check the colour n functionability of lights only.. not head lights..

btw i need to change rear tyre.. metz 160/60 for rear on my ver R for $170.. worth it? btw when i look at 160 tyres on vtec.. looks kinda huge.. my 150 tyres almost touchin the chain guard.. so 160 how sia?? any bros encountered any difficulties installin 160s on non-vtec?

thank for yr time and comments!! :)

Just to share: LED signal lights confirm can pass.

STA abit more relax cus that centre meant to inspect heavy vehicles like lorries etc. Even your high beam also they never check. But also, relax2 can also be no good. If you know what I mean...:sian:

ah pek and s4 users,

do you have any idea how to remove the black stains ( rust) in our forks?

thanks

Depending on how deep it is for the stain on it. Lightly sanding

it with soapy water is fast but later have to polish the blur surface area using Meaguire Metal polish. Otherwise..use normal metal polish on the stain but takes time and patient. :sian:

My method I DIY. Just unscrew then oil it. Hehe... But I think jerkyness and unresponsiveness not because of that ah... Hehe

hi all,

two things would like to check with you guys here.

one, is it normal for oil stain to be seen around where the front fork meets the main body frame, that is where the front fork is held by the main frame. Is it a sign that the steering cone needs replacement?

and two, in case it is the steering cone that's damaged, i have been quoted $120 to change the steering cone, is this reasonable?

Thanks people. :)

If you have balancer..loosen it a bit and pull the throttle hand grip out a bit.

If its ok..then take off your tank and follow the pair of throttle cables to the part where it pulls the carbs acuator..may be one of of the cable is about to break liao.

If your cable is too long and old liao..time to change b4 it snap one day...go to Ah Fook change new pair..$45 only.

Don't understand..there is no part of a fork itself that meets the body. If you are referring to the fork and stem bracket..then I understand. Cone bearing area is filled with grease..not oil.

Thing may be you send pics easier to understand.

Normally selling at $15.90 to $16.00 but got sales can get at $12.90. The place I know is at NTUC Festive Mall (Hougnag Ave 3 stretch) and NTUC Hub at AMK Ave 3. Also available at some "Home Fix" DIY shop.

Autobac at Bukit Batok has..but more expensive.

paiseh sia, i got no pictures to show now leh. don't know if it is called the stem bracket, but it is around the area infront of the radiator and below the ignition key. it is the part which holds the rotating front steering. maybe is grease, but looks oily or greasy as i can see dirt/dust/sand stuck on it.

Ah pek, so is $120 reasonable for steering come change in case i need to change it?

Normally when cone bearing gone bad..it does not happened the way you describe in your case and it may not be your bearing is damage but the lower locking ring nut (castle type) loose and the grease melted by heat as some of it leaks out.

To test your steering cone bearing status..level up your front wheel and swing the handle bar left to right and vice versa. If it's smoothly goes from one end swing to the other, its ok.

To lock the castle ring nut, get a long flat head screw right and seat the end of it against thone of the castle ring nut 'slot' and tap the screw driver with your hand..the ring nut will turn upwards depending on which direction and will tighten and close up the bearings.

After that...seat on ur bike and move forward in 1st gear and brake hard...if there is no knocking noise, the cone bearing is ok. If you want to change your bearing..go to Ah Fook at Blk 5032 AMK Ave 3 Industrial Park 2 No.295..tell him I send you, should be $90 or so only.

Yes..fully sync eo are better than mineral as far as molecules that holds the bond for lube is more longer and does not break so easily (reliable). If you are tight on budget, mineral oil is okay..just be sure you don't do red line too often or race the engine..and remember to change on the recommended mileage (2k-3k depending on riding style).

Why not asked him to try mine eo? Pm me if he wants..no regret..real performer.:sian:
