It's from the hole on the left side. Diff shops quoting very diff prices. Thinking of going planet motors, or any other place recommended.

 

Anyone got coolant leaking from any of the holes for non Vtec S4 and do not want to spend a bomb of $1.2k on a 2nd hand mid engine block replacement..come find Ah Pek. ;0)

hello,,,can see some coolant leak from around the engine block area. what could be the problem?

 

Hi bro... My pb1 have the exact same symptoms.... If parked side stand coolant comes out frm the left... If mainstand comes out from both sides....

Have u repaired yours? Or anyone faced the same prblm and has already repaired?

I am hoping it wont cost too much...

I got try change gear at 5.5 for gear 3 onwards, but sometimes feel like wear out the engine too much...

 

means what har? everytime change gear at rpm 5500 onwards? I always drag till abt 6000-7000 rpm then change gear

Yah..better still..gradually drag up all way 9 to 11k RPM if u want..healthy for ur bike (I'll skip the details).

bike engine is meant to be high revving.. dont be afraid. u dont rev high actually might be worse because of carbon

that was what happened to my RX-Z last time. 1 year clear the carbon from my exhaust n i think engine twice. waste money...

 

I heard from some S4 riders, it is quite safe revving up to 10k rpm. i do it once in a while

I tried pushing to rpm 6 for gear 2 onwards, alot vibration n feels like over stretching engine.

 

If I up gear smoothly wld be rpm 4 for gear 1-2, den rpm 5 for gear 3-5, rpm 5.5 for 5-6.

 

Maybe cos I nearing eo change? Got another 1000km left for 5000 interval.

since I changed to 15W50, now my S4 hit 8000+ still feeling ok. will change around 10000 mark

 

unless my tacho spoilt but usually changing gear at 6000 rpm still feels ok. of cos gear 1 to 2 will not drag as much but gear 2 onwards is ok. That time my bike also felt draggy, then i brought it to Yong Peng n now feels much better. Last time struggling to go more than 130km/hr but i hit 150km/hr easily after Yong Peng trip

Errr..don't understand...can you take a pic and post here? If it's at the hole can but if at the head gasket..I have yet to to see one unless it's eo and coolant mixed.

you know the engine block and the engine cover( silver in colour), there is this rubber seal in between them.. There is some oil leaking from there.

I see. If it's not leaking heavily..ur eo level between change may not drop drastically..even if it does..you can always top up to the correct level. Just use kerosene and clean it off for now and ride for awhile and see how bad the fresh leak is..if just little over two weeks or a month..it;s minor and most ppl live with it unless you wanna have that rubber gasket replace..no other way as the gasket likely harden and crack liao.

Leaking coolant.

 

Found coolant dripping on the bottom left part of bike (underneath the pump). It flowed via my side stand and found the green puddle of coolant around the stand.Somewhere below there must have a leaked. Had a closer looked below and saw the droplet but have now idea what causes it.

- What could be the prob before having it checked at the nearest bike shop?

- Any ball pack cost projection will be most helpful.

Looks like Coolant pump leaking. Can be the cover housing rusted inside out and have a small hole and leak under pressure. If this the case..can use Aradite or some other heat resistance epoxy to patch it up. If no hole..you can replace the rubber O-ring seal for coolant inside. There are two rings..smaller one for eo and larger one for coolant..only a few bucks but u have to DIY. For a one and for all solution..have the pump change at about $220.
