by the way, how you guys secure your bike while going on a touring trip.

let's say going KL >> Genting trip for 3days 2nights

what security equipment you guys use and what to lookout for?

newbie at touring need guidance from all the seniors here..:cheeky:

I would say, just bring along a disc lock and bike cover will do. For KL, go look for recommended hotel as posted in the Trip forum. While Genting is generally safe. Usually I just cover my bike there. My friend don't even bother to cover.

Shahrul is right, from my little riding experience, we also try to practice the same.

The canvas if possible to bring is to "hide from open view" of potential thieves, "What you don't see don't bother you" but if once the potential thief has seen ur nice bike then his mind start thinking of ways on how to get it.

The alarm is a strong deterrent, esp when it is loud, only pros will try to break through it.

Two disc lock is another strong deterrent, if he sees that he will probably just give the idea up, unless they can tow up, up and away...

And the chain lock if it is long enough is usually used to lock at least 2 bikes or more together.

Parking at reputable places definitely helps bec hopefully they can be trusted.

Of course having a first party insurance will help in case all else fails you shld still be able to claim at least some value of it.

any hotel to recommend at KL?

So far i hv been using this 2 hotels.

-Melia hotel

Opposite Berjaya times Square. I park my ride at B1 togather with the staff bike n its beside the security room.

- Istana hotel

Park it at the lobby juz beside the entrance.

Usually its 2 nites park there n everytime check it when in n out of hotel. Use front n rear disklock with putting on 5th gear..

So far so good n will definetely return..

Could be a foul plug, could be a "spoilt" petrol etc. Is there any FI light? if no FI light, then could not be injector. If you can, try touching the headers to determine if the cylinder is working. Use a cloth or something to touch the hearder to see if that particular cylinder is hot or not. If it is not hot, then maybe spark plug spoilt. You might need to remove your fairing to touch the header.

Or you can try changing the petrol incase the petrol have degraded that cause premature knocking. You could also use an injector cleaner like STP injector cleaner to clean the fuel line.

Start from the cheaper option. Otherwise visit your friendly neigbourhood bike shop.

I've just learned from your post kinwei. Great tip.
