Hey guys how to derust screw?

Hey guys how to derust screw? Use what product better to derust all metal

parts including screw?

Take out petrol from your tank into a container.... throw all your screws in there and let it soak.

wd40 and sandpaper.... anyway, screws are cheap, just take a sample go hardware shop to purchase new ones.

I Wudnt Wanna Reuse The Rusted Screw If I Were You In Case It Breaks Then Got Half Of It Stuck In The Hole, Base On Experience. Just Get A New One.

like the rest have said.. spray wd40.. slowly take out the screw.. change a new 1. stainless steel ones would be better.

Why take all the trouble just to derust a screw. I think autosol can remove rust from metals rite? But for screws, pls just get a new set. Not worth ur effort of polishing.

What abt screws on the engine ar? I got one screw on the engine also rusty le. I can get it from hardware shop also? I've ask motortiam, they say they don't have

 

Btw, my fork and suspension also abit rusty. Can I use rust converter or autosol can remove the rust? Will it make it more prone to rust in future?

u can find stainless steel screws/nuts at kelantan lane there (Opposite LAB /Behind coffee shop) . Any Size & Shapes . But Must Show Sample . There got ALOT . If u go to normal hardware shop Only Certain Sizes Have & sometimes the thread is diff cos Bikes Screw Thread Is Diff. Hope this helps. just my 2 cents. Cheers!

front fork if it is rusted...i presume at areas beyond the reach of the seal ...yeah use rust coverter is an excellent solution to your problem..

 

those areas where the seal rubs it..u have to live with it..unless u oil the rusted area regularly.the sealing action actully will remove the oil. if leave it for some time it will rust and this rust will eventually destroy the seal..

u can try rust converters ..it may help.

Some OEM screw are unique. Meaning you can't simply get a exact same type. However if you are not fussy, you can get a almost similar one at those fasterner shop. Like the one mentioned at Kelantan lane.

Bro just an advise, try not to use stainless steel screws for engine area. For those areas use hardened screws to withstand the forces of the engine.

1) Honda - FJT at Rowell road or Chong Aik at Desker road

 

2) Suzuki - Guan Hoe at Ragoon Road or KS Motoring at Jalan Besar road near to Regina

 

3) Yamaha - Auto Machinery at Rowell road

 

4) Kawasaki - Eversuccess at Lembu road

 

They normally have the bike parts catalogue. So you can browse through it to get the screw you need.

i didnt know that there are different type of screws around. so if i tell the hardware shop that i want hardended screws, they will know?

Bro just an advise, try not to use stainless steel screws for engine area. For those areas use hardened screws to withstand the forces of the engine.

 

To add to the above, yes best not to use SS screws for engine casing. However, the reasoning is not that the screw cannot withstand the force. There isn't actually much pressure on them, remember your oil filler cap is only plastic.

 

The reason for not using SS, you need to remember your old science lessons on noble metals. The less noble metal will self sacrifice like an anode (ie corrode) to protect your ss screw.

 

Rather the 20cent screw corrode than the engine case corrode.
