Situation 1 situation about misuse of God's talent

KJV Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

reply to satan on material wants

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

" God had given you talen , are you using it for God"

Situation 2 about vainly protection

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

Reply to satan on testing your "faith" aka "if G-d love me he will give this and than or protect you when you purposely do dangerous thing"

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

Health, Wealth and power

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

The health wealth power and fame is within the the provincial charge of Satan desiring this will put you souls in danger if there's even a hint of self serving , see the serious reply

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

by serving the Lord ...He will provide the means and all that you have belong to Him.

focusing on the dos and don'ts; making more rules and regulations - 613 not enuf huh

... but ignoring the spirit of the matter.

Matt 3:17 And behold, a voice from heaven said, This is My Son, My Beloved, in Whom I delight!

satan left out the word "beloved" from all the attempts that he use to tempt Jesus

Hence, once we know that we are God's beloved ... we will reign in life

The Martyrdom of Justin Martyr and Companions

The faithfulness of Justin, who gave his life unflinchingly for Christ, earned him the name he is known by, Justin Martyr. This is the actual ancient text describing the testimony of Justin and friends before the Roman prefect, Rusticus.

Rusticus was ready to get down to business. "So are you a Christian or not?"

Justin replied, "Yes, I am a Christian."

And you, Chariton, are you also a Christian?"

Chariton replied, "I am a Christian by the command of God."

The prefect turned to the woman. "What say you, Charito?"

"I am a Christian by the grace of God," Charito replied.

He turned to Euelpistus. "And you? What are you?"

Euelpistus, who was a servant of Caesar, answered, "I, too, am a Christian. I have been freed by Christ, and by the grace of Christ I share in the same hope."

Rusticus made sure the recorder was getting all this, then asked Hierax, "And you? Are you a Christian?"

Hierax said, "Yes, I am a Christian, for I revere and worship the same God."

Rusticus swept his eyes across the group in front of him. He had one more thing to clear up. It was appropriate to make some effort to save the lives of the accused. "Did Justin make you Christians?"

Hierax answered first, "I was a Christian, and I will remain a Christian."

Paeon, who had been asked nothing, chimed in, "I, too, am a Christian."

Rusticus looked at him. "And who taught you?"

"We received this good confession from our parents," Paeon replied.

Euelpistus had no intentions of letting Justin take the rap for all of them. "I listened to Justin willingly, but I learned to be a Christian from my parents as well."

"Where are your parents?" Rusticus asked.

"In Cappadocia."

"And yours?" He was asking Hierax.

"Christ is our true father, and faith in him is our mother. My earthly parents died, and I was driven out of Iconium in Phrygia. Then I came here."

There was one more to question. Rusticus the prefect asked Liberianus, "And what say you? Are you a Christian and unwilling to worship?"

Liberianus said, "I, too, am a Christian, for I worship and reverence the only true God."

There was one thing left to do. These Christian martyrs had to be given a chance to recant.

Chapter Five:

Rusticus Pronounces Sentence on Justin Martyr and His Companions

Rusticus stood to make his pronouncement. "Let those who have refused to sacrifice to the gods and to yield to the command of the emperor be scourged, then let them be led away and beheaded, according to the laws."

The holy martyrs, having glorified God, were taken to the customary place, beheaded, and they perfected their testimony in the confession of the Savior.

Some of the faithful secretly removed their bodies, then laid them in a suitable place. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ worked with them, to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.

This Christian martyrs story is simple and straightforward, but it testifies to the faith of Justin Martyr and the Christians with him. It's one thing to say that you believe in Jesus Christ and the eternal life that he purchased with his blood; it is quite another to prove your faith by giving up your temporary life on this earth.

Recently, my Pastor has gone to preach in Sicily, Italy â€¦ the mafia's headquarter.

This is how dangerous that place can be:

that Italian church pastor was threatened by the mafia there a few years ago. The mafia â€œbo songâ€ with that church pastor and hired a gun man to kill pastor.

The gun man goes into the italian pastorâ€™s office and couldnâ€™t take gun out, panicked and started crying.

In the end, the gun man accepted Jesus.

Psychiatrist that attend my pastor preaching in Italy said:

if people really believe what pastor preached, psychiatrists will all be out of job. Because people who have been seeing psychiatrists were all having problem with guilt and condemnation.

may the preaching of THE gospel goes forth !!!

in laymem term:

GRACE has swallowed up sin (noun)

that italiano church was destined to let GRACE flows to the rest of the pizza loving folks there

maybe that is why the italian gun man cannot pull his pistol out ... maybe that pastor's time is not up yet

like Jesus while on earth ... his time no up hor ... no one can take his life

a) the revelation of Jesus holding out the 5 loaves and 2 fishes

b) The principal of LAW and The principal of GRACE

i am a spiritual glutton and love feasting on gourmet food

Hexacon Construction to build for the largest church in Singapore

Few years ago, the boss of Hexacon Construction had a vision from God that he will be building for the largest church in Singapore

He probably thought that God was referring to City Harvest.

Well, Hexacon was appointed as the main contractor of One-North in 2008, the iconic S$660m building which is expected to be ready around 2012.

it sure looks like this prophecy is going to be fulfilled sooner rather than later...

Did Kong Hee plagiarise?

University students know the seriousness of it. So do journalists, whose reputation stand on their ability to tell the truth. Even literary writers, whose job is to craft fiction, understand the need to be original.

So I was surprised to learn that large swaths of Kong Heeâ€™s daily devotionals are lifted from other sources â€” without attribution. This unexpected revelation was brought to light by an anonymous blogger who devoted an entire blog called â€˜Cheat Graceâ€™ to exposing Kong Heeâ€™s alleged plagiarism of other authors.

I'm reading the Daily Devotion Renewing your spiritual life in 90 days Vol 2. Yup, some devotions were a bit subjective. I find Vol 1 better. It's scary when some of the materials could be plagiarized and sold for a tidy profit

I feel that Kong Hee's going the same path as Benny Hinn, Joyce Meyer and Kenneth Copeland. I have some idea what could be next, but I'm keeping my thoughts to myself since it's only a theory.

His Capture

It was 1557. The Reformation was already a grand success in Germany and Switzerland; in fact, in most of northern Europe.

By Christian standards, if not worldly ones, the Radical Reformation was also a grand success. Thousands of Christians had gathered throughout Switzerland and Germany to devote themselves to Christ without concern for their own lives. Persecuted by Catholics and Reformers alike, the Anabaptists breathed the Spirit of apostolic Christianity. Their martyrs, too, boldly triumphed over their persecutors and exulted in their freedom in Christ.

Hans Brael was one such man.

He was traveling through the Pusterthal in Switzerland when he ran into a judge and his actuary, also traveling. The judge simply greeted him, but I suspect the actuary could tell there was something about this man.

"Where are you going, and what have you been doing here?"

Hans was honest. "I have been visiting my brothers."

"And by your brothers, do you mean the rebaptizers?"

Again, Hans chose honesty. "Yes," he replied.

The judge immediately dismounted and used Hans' own cloth belt to bind him. Then they made him walk next to the horses for an hour, across the muddy Swiss valley of Puster.

Unable to simply order him to recant and unwilling to hear his doctrines, they decided to try to get information from him. "We want to know where the people are that the Anabaptists send into this country. We want to know their names, and we want to know who is harboring them."

Ah, a statement Hans could address:

"We are not sent out to anyone's harm or detriment. We are simply called to seek the salvation of men and to exhort them to repentance and reformation of their lives. Therefore, since this has nothing to do with any article of faith and is nothing you need to know, I do not want to tell you. Nor do I want to accuse anyone."

To this the judge quietly informed Hans that he would be tortured if he did not tell. He urged Hans to spare himself this.

Hans had a question. "If I did what you said; if I betrayed those who showed me kindness by feeding and lodging meâ€”even to avoid tortureâ€”could I be considered good?"

Amazingly, the council members began chatting among themselves. "You know, he's got a good point. I wouldn't consider it good if it were done to me."

Ed. Note: I'm not making this up! I know it's like some kind of comedy at this point, but that will soon change.

The judge, obviously, was enraged and silenced the council. After urging Hans to spare himself, he sent him back to prison under threat of torture.

I have to point out here that the judge then asked Hans if he intended to accuse the council of encouraging treason or treachery. He did it in anger, so that the only appropriate answer from Hans was silence. However, as you'll see shortly, the judge refers to what they're asking as "betrayal" himself.

The Torture Begins

The judge wasted no time in getting him out of his cell and to the executioner (who was in charge of torture as well as execution). He was brought to the rack.

Again, Hans was the perfect descendant of the early Christian martyrs before him. He quietly stripped himself for the rack, then lay himself upon it.

The executioner attached the ropes to his hands and stretched him until even the spectators were crying. When that did no good, they hung him by his hands from the ropes and tied a large stone to his feet.

In that position, the judge pressed him for information. Hans assured him that he would bear whatever God permitted them to do to him without betraying anyone.

The judge, seeing that he was getting nowhere, even with the rack, became enraged again. "An oath! You have sworn to one another that you won't betray each other! That's why you won't talk!"

"We make no oaths," Hans replied. "We don't betray one another because it would be wrong."

The judge came up with a plan. "You are a rogue," he said calmly. "I've caught you in a lie."

"I am no rogue. What lie have you caught me in?"

"You told us you were not a teacher, but it has become obvious from what you say that you are one."

Really, it was a pretty weak attempt at turning a Christian martyr. "I am no teacher, but if I were one, I wouldn't hide it. It's an honorable thing before God to teach his Word."

With that, the judge gave up and left, but he left Hans hanging on the rope with the stone still tied to his feet. The executioner, too, stayed to attend to him.
