I have always wonder in the event where my petrol reaches the reserve tank and I am in an ulu place with no petrol station in sight, what speed would be approriate to scout for one...

I always tot the lower speed is better, but a friend told me it's not true, as I am riding a two stroker. He thinks riding around 50-70 is better. Any opinions?

your consumption is dependent on rpm. Ride at the lowest possible rpm

quite agree with the 50~70.. but best if u can maintain throttle. i've ever tried on my DR the difference from 34km/l (normal riding with some pickups) to 38km/l (constant speed 70km/h~80km/h)

then again it depends on bike also. for r6, constant 90km/h is ard 20km/l anything between is ard 17.5km/l (speed ~150km/h) and 14.5km/l (above 150km/h)

you have to find the range.

Erm... Somehow I think it varies from bike to bike... To quote a few bikes that I have rode for long term (all @ top/6th gear):

S4 Spec II - best mileage ~27.5km/l @ 70~80km/h, ~23km/l @ 100km/h

Katana 750 - best mileage ~20km/l @ 110~120km/h, also tried ~18.5km/l @ 90km/h

I do not know why this is the case but somehow the Katana has better mileage at higher speeds. Maybe it's due to the carb settings or what, meant to take in more petrol at lower speed for greater punch.

Just my personal experience. :)

no wonder my FC gets better for highway riding (~100km/h)...

must be easier on my low gears from now on. hehe..
