Hi people, I just went MaeHongSon from Chiangmai. The mountainous roads there are under construction and some are sandy. Please be careful

you mean the landslide from last year/earlier this year? :giddy:

I don't know when was the landslide...

but I did see a couple of roads under construction due to land slide...and many parts are drilled and gonna be repathed with new tar...

in fact..I skidded on a particular right turn after a down slope in the mountains cos the road was covered with pebbles drilled from the road and it was at night :cheeky:

vege2 E.V.ilyn,

could be those leftover from last year's monsoon before we were there, almost 40km of.......... & a temporary wooden bridge to replace a collapsed sharp curve.

SK I,

very much appreciated ur valuable feedback. :thumb:

Definitely not last year's leftover, coz I went again in May this year.

Roads were already OK.

Guess as long as there are heavy rains there will be landslides due to mountainside not being sealed with concrete like those along NSH.

Did the MHS loop about 2 weeks back.

Confirm that some parts are sandy and under construction. But its not really that bad. There are well placed bright orange signs warning of any serious drama ahead.

road surface btw Pai-MHS has lots of potholes & corrugations- bumpy ride...

its near impossible (maybe we were not looking hard enough?) to find gasoline 95 outside of CNX, its gasohol everywhere

sunflowers are in full bloom at the moment. Off the 108, near Khun Yuam. Fantastic view....

According to early Thai news releases, Gasohol will take over Gasoline from Jan 2007. Not surprising to see Gasoling being phased out by certain regions or manufacturers.

ya one more thing - national park fees had been raised to 400bht for foreigners!!!

Which national park are you referring to?

Pls provide details

If referring to Fee for going up to Doi Inthanon,

1) just siam the booth by going in from Mae Hong Son rather than Chiang Mai.

2) polish up your thai language skills :cheeky:

Try translating this

Kor-toot, koon jahk prathet Singapore, ngern mee mahk mahk chai mai?
