Back from Ubin camping! Not too bad though, but seriously some things to improve.

1. Water supply.

We had to bathe through taps from the public toilet. The water was like orange? Eww... But after a day of cycling, it would be worse staying hot and sticky. Had to buy 4 x1.5L of mineral water for consumption.

2. Ventilation

We were camping at Jelutong. Throughout the whole night there was no wind at all. Hot and stuffy. It was only nearer to midnight when temperature dropped a little it was easier to sleep. Maybe the other 2 campsites can offer better natural wind. But Jelutong is the legal site to do a campfire. Unfortunately, NPCC were doing their activities there, and their seniors talked like they set out to wake the dead up. Noisy crows.

I must highlight though, it's a great site for stars gazing. :)

Looking to camp at East Coast next time round!

Think changi point would be a better choice. Ubin kinda dangerous. Wild dogs aplenty at nite.

I love camping! ( partly cos I'm a scout :p )

Changi point is a tad bit too windy and crowded.

Ubin, just keep anything that is or smells like food away from the tent doors.

If you don't mind the smell of the mozzie coil, light the coil in your tent and zip everything up ( your bags.. only the tent door [ mesh one ] ).

Guarantee after 1 hour all mosquito and insects begone! Had the best sleep ever..

An alternative to bathing with water. God had sent campers an incredible product; Prickly heat snake powder. Do a powder bath.. cover your whole body until white colour.

1- Makes you feel clean and refreshed!

2- It makes you feel cooler, so can sleep peacefully~!

I agree that Ubin is good for star-gazing.. we had a camp there once and invited the NTU astronomy club for some star-gazing. Had an awesome once in a lifetime event there!

I've tried that during army days. If only I knew it was going to be so hot and stuffy that night, Prickly heat would definately be top choice.

I expect all camps to be hot and stuffy.. except camping areas such as Changi Point and Punggol End area. Gawd, I was freezing even with a windbreaker on!!!

My 2 cents worth of thoughts......., in any outdoor trips especially camps , always be prepared for the unexpected mentally and physically .... but never compromise on safety ... then you will enjoy the sun, sand, the moon and the stars ..... or even the frog cry, the cricket songs and the tunes of falling branches ....

All the best for your future camping trips guys !!!!! N Be safe ...

In life, there are important decisions that you have to make.

I chose to ride ... And I chose to Ride Hard and Ride Safe ... On a BLACKBIRD.

Past Rides : Ali Baba (P.Ramlee period), Chopper (Disco season), BMX (ET season), Piyo-Piyo (2008-??)
